The entire team at The Smile Spot is amazing! I’ve worked in healthcare for 15 years and I’ve seen the worst and the best. My 6 yr daughter recently needed a cap on a molar and a tooth pulled. Dr Erin and her team made me and my daughter feel so safe and well cared for. They explained everything to me and gave us options. I was amazed at how quick and efficient they were! The tooth was out and the cap on in the literal blink of an eye! My daughter is looking forward to going back! Her experience there has always been positive and that means so much more to me and her. And they checked on her the next day! From reception to the dental hygienists to the doctors, everyone is informative, kind, and skilled! I would highly recommend this practice to anyone with children! Thank you Smile Spot for the outstanding care!
We love the Smile Spot !! My 2 daughters came into the smile spot with severe dental anxiety! I cannot say enough about the staff and of course Dr. Stephen and Dr. Erin if you are looking for a great place for your children and there teeth needs look no further than the smile spot trust me you won’t regret it I know I don’t!
We were on a 1 year+ waiting list with Big Smiles and also Yale Pediatric Dentistry for front tooth extraction on my 5-year-old daughter. As a parent, I would do anything for my kids and as time went on and her teeth got worse, I started searching for options. I decided to come in for consultation with The Smile Spot. The kids were beyond themselves and absolutely LOVE the dentist now. Not to bash the other guys but...the kids were terrified going there. Not only that, but they also traumatized my daughter trying to sedate her to do the extractions in office several times with no success and a different unfamiliar dentist each time. The staff at The Smile Spot is just something else. Their demeanor and connection with the kids is not something you find anywhere else. Nicole is a "bestie" according to my daughters. LOOK NO WHERE ELSE. THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CHILD ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE CHALLENGING DENTAL CASES. I won't say they are cheap, but they are in fact THE BEST.
I didn't realize Dentist offices could be so much fun. Every single person in there was kind, helpful, and really seemed like they genuinely love their job. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

I brought my 8 year old daughter, who has special needs, to see Dr. Stephen, Dr. Erin, and Ms. Nicole today- for the first time! I wish we would've come sooner. Many first dental milestones were reached today thanks to the tailored experience. What a gem of a place- an office experience and the most skilled providers, created from the heart and soul of Dr. Kest. I highly recommend The Smile Spot and we are looking forward to our next appointment!
These guys are AMAZING!!! With 2 wild little boys who are extremely active, touch EVERYTHING and ANYTHING they can… everyone is so understanding + helpful. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!! Very professional and amazing with the kids! ( one of ours had a horrible experience previously and they’ve done amazing with him.. he now asks when he gets to go the dentist ) THANK YOU!!
Awesome place! Great with children, patient and support the parent (who’s often multitasking)! They Take a picture and give you a print (I mean what Mom doesn’t like a picture!) they give them a toy and assist you while checking out to make the experience less stressful for child and parent! We recently joined The Smile Spot family for our child's dental needs. What a blessing its been! Being a parent with a child on the spectrum, its so hard to find care providers that "just get it", and that they do! From the simple things like hating to brushing or flossing and is so excited to do so every night to earn his reward and now Doesn't Stop asking CAN I GO TO THE DENTIST, is amazing!! Sounds silly to some but, for others that's like climbing a mountain (like it is for us). Everyone who we worked with, saw, walked by was so inviting, kind, energetic, and BEYOND PATIENT, and JUDGEMENT FREE! Especially when it took us 6years to start seeing a dentist for the first time, it meant so much to not be picked apart for it but to just come up with a plan for moving forward. I can go on endlessly about them and how amazing our first experience was (even with a mouth full of teeth problems, lol) and I am sooo happy we found them!
Dr. Kest, and each and every staff member that we encountered at the Smile Spot operate with the highest level of service, kindness, professionalism and compassion I have ever experienced in a dentist's office. When we left the office my daughter actually said: "Thank you Mom, that was so fun!" ... and continued thanking me for the rest of the day that I had taken her there. The Smile Spot has thought of everything to make kids feel calm, listened to - and to enjoy their visits. There was not a moment that my daughter was uncomfortable or worried - and she was there for a bad infection and to have a tooth removed! - she didn't even feel the tooth come out. The care with which they treat their patients, coupled with the fun and energy of the entire visit (from the moment we stepped in until the moment we left) makes this a place that I would recommend wholeheartedly. I feel so lucky to have found the Smile Spot - they treated my daughter better than I could have ever hoped for. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!
Where do I begin. From the minute I walked in the door with my son we felt so welcome. Such a great environment and best of all they were so good to my little guy. I love this place and so does my 19 month old, he literally didn’t want to leave. Never have I been to a dentist that is so caring and where we felt heard like we do here. Would give 10 stars if I could!
Dr. Kest is amazing . My son has been going to him for years . They specialize with kids that have special needs . The staff are amazing . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them !
We've been coming to this practice for almost two years now. We LOVE Smile Spot- so much so I choose to bring my son here and pay out of pocket because they are so much above any other kids dentistry option. I would recommend this practice to ANYONE with kids that needs a dentist.
Before smile spot my son was riddled with cavities and soft teeth. Each dentist I tried wanted to pull almost all his baby teeth! I was against this as my son had no fear of the dentist and I didn't want to cause any with that type of experience. When we came to smile spot they recommended other options. We never had to pull any of his teeth, once they fell out he needed braces. They made the process seamless! My son loves visiting and his braces (to my surprise) never bother (unless he's picked them and the wires moved).
My son has what they call a "curious tongue" and we end up calling in for a brace appointment every few weeks to have them repaired. They are always so kind to him and never have an issue seeing him quickly. They're very patient with the kids and my son looks forward to his visits! They are always able to fit him in same or next day. The office is always BUSY so I appreciate this even more. I have no other feedback for the team other than to keep doing what they're doing and a lot of gratitude.
Everyone here is amazing and my son loves it. I don’t know what we would do without them.
Our kids have been going to the smile spot for years and they’ve always made going to the dentist an enjoyable experience. From cleanings to orthodontistry, they are great with it all. Customer service is always friendly and inviting and we love being greeted by name when we come in! Jamie just started there is an amazing addition and brings even more charisma to the office!
The Smile Spot has always been a really solid practice and has treated our kids well for years now. Today though we saw next level service from them. Our daughter knocked 4 teeth very loose at camp. Without question they got her right in and Dr. Erin spent almost 3 hours getting her out back together. Every staff member we interacted with were fantastic. Base don’t he time of day I’m fairly certain the team there must have skipped their lunch to help us. They kept her comfortable, answered all our questions and helped make a very tough day a lot less stressful for us. While I never planned on needing an emergency pediatric dentist, I’m glad we had a relationship with their practice.

While visiting my parents from out of state my daughter’s wire on her braces broke the day we arrived! Luckily, my sister recommended the BEST place- The Smile Spot- in Southbury, CT! We called in the afternoon and the absolute sweetest and knowledgeable staff members, Tania and Nicole, were able to help us out, coordinating with our Orthodontist in Maine, and fitting us in for the first thing the very next morning. Their office is very tech savvy and they were able to send us all the necessary info over text ahead of our appointment so we were ready to go first thing in the morning. When we realized I had completed something incorrectly upon arrival, they could not have been kinder or more patient, showing me where the issue was and helping me to correct it. When we got there we were all impressed by the interior design. Everything was extremely kid-centric, super clean, and very Instagrammable- GORGEOUS! My kids had their choice of playing with toys or watching a movie on a giant flat screen and quickly melted into the cozy seats and started watching a Disney classic for a few minutes before we were welcomed by Dr. Kest personally! He introduced himself to my mother and I, and then got down to my children’s level and introduced himself to both of them and asked what he was seeing her for today and took a quick look and genuinely empathized with her. My mother accompanied my one daughter in, while I waited with the other in the waiting room. As each patient arrived, Dr. Stephen, as he prefers to be called, popped out to welcome each one. I had assumed he had welcomed us that way because we were new patients but quickly realized that this is how he treats all his patients! This kind of personal attention for your patients is a real signal for a doctor who is in practice for the right reasons and obviously cares for his patients as more than just a number and wants to get to know them on a different level. For example I overheard him congratulate someone on a great game. He obviously actually knows his patients- so WONDERFUL and I am confidents this impacts the care he provides! Importantly, even though they fit us in we didn’t wait and the waiting room was not crowded whatsoever. The technician, Katy, who worked on my daughters braces did an excellent job, patiently describing every step of the way, which set my daughter at ease and she was able to relax to a movie the entire time. When Dr. Stephen came in to check the work, he continued his super kind demeanor, and my daughter (who has medical anxiety) later described him as “so funny and kind!” Both my daughters loved “the waiting room and how nice everyone was.” My daughter also loved “the treasure box” where she choose a cool hot pink water snake. This experience was a 10 out of 5 stars and if I lived in the area I would absolutely come here full time! If you are looking for a place that cares about kids and puts patients first the Smile Spot should be your new spot!
Today was my son’s first dentist appointment. The staff really went above and beyond to make the process as fun and as comfortable as possible! Dr Stephen is so welcoming and charismatic. I really appreciated the patience and care they provided my child and how thorough their explanations were regarding his dental care. I highly recommend The Smile Spot!!!
We brought our son to The Smile Spot earlier for his first appointment. The staff really goes above and beyond to make your child feel comfortable. They add individual touches which is a nice touch. Great experience will be back again!
I'm not sure who had more fun, my daughter the patient, or me the parent. I was incredibly impressed with the office. The decor screams let's have fun and the staff takes the ambience to a new level with their energy and enthusiasm. My daughter generally is not a fan of appointments of any kind but she was all smiles the entire time.
More importantly, the staff and Doctor were very thorough with their review and expectations moving forward. I'm grateful for the fun, but I'm more pleased with high level of care.

The smile spot is by far the best dentistry for parents and kids! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such a welcoming group of people and all with smiles and excitement to meet us. They are so reassuring and helpful with all children including kids with fears, anxieties, special needs,etc. My kids have not had the best experience at the dentist in the past and am so grateful to have been referred here by a friend. My kids had such a blast with all the staff and are super excited to go back. I was also very impressed with everyone in the practice and how calm and fun they made it for the kids. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a children's dentistry. I assure you that you will not be disappointed!! Thank you for making seeing the dentist such a positive experience for my boys!!

Words cannot describe our experience this morning at The Smile Spot! This is something I have put off for years. Being a mom of a beautiful autistic 6 year old boy, this was a huge fear for me. It wasn’t me feeling embarrassed about his public outbursts or anxiety. It was the sadness I would have after, chalking it up to just another thing that is extremely difficult for us. And just another Dr. just rushing us out so they can be done with us.
Let me tell you this was not the case here. We felt so special the moment we walked in, we were so catered to and the staff just guided us through everything. They let my son run around the whole office and explore. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. We were there for over an hour and they waited for him not the other way around. It was a dream come true! Dr. Stephen his wife Tali, Tanya and Marley were a God send. They are honestly doing God’s work. There are no words to describe how I feel at this moment. But I will try to come up with some. Gratitude to them for changing our perception not only about Doctors but with my son. Knowing that he can handle anything if he is just given a fair chance.
So with that being said I’m honored to give them the highest review thank you all so so much.
My husband and I took my daughter, Madison, for the first time today. She is six years old, epileptic, and very fearful of medical offices. She's been through a lot in her short six years of life!!! Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was so incredibly amazing with her!! They were patient and playful and took every bit of time that they needed to make both her and us feel comfortable. They tailored their plan for her needs with input from us. By the time her visit was over, she found the confidence to explore the office...which they let her do...and even play around with her hygienist. This is a special practice with special people that ultimately make your child feel special too!
My husband and I aren't the best dental patients in the world and feared our kids would also have that fear based on our experiences growing up with shoddy dentists, however, I LOVE the Smile Spot and its welcoming crew! The decor is kid friendly, bright, and there are always fun things going on, i.e: movie days, costume parties, a Quassy summer picnic & raffles monthly.
I reluctantly booked both my children their first dental visit last summer... they were 3 & 4. There is absolutely no dental fear with my kids and pleasantly enough the entire ordeal is NO stress on parents. I was able to literally SIT in the waiting room and veg out while my kids did everything from brush their teeth with help to handle their cleaning and examination on their own. The hygienists spend time in the waiting room with the kids before they bring them back to warm them up to the idea of being independent. This time is built right into your appointment time which is nice as well. (Did I mention there's a kid sized bathroom w/ a tiny toilet and kids height sink in the waiting room? Perfection!).
Dr. Stephen is the bomb. I know I'm a grown adult referring to a dentist as "the bomb" but he is funny, charismatic, and a jokester. He takes time with each kid (same room even if you have multiple kids) to make them comfortable and also explains to us parents what is going on inside their tiny mouths (okay, my kids' mouths are not so tiny, pun intended).
Financially speaking, we don't have the most excellent dental insurance, however, they work with payment plans with reasonable time periods. The staff is flexible and cost is up front. I'd recommend Dr. Stephen and the Smile Spot to anyone. For those that have a little bit of a drive to Southbury it is even worth looking into to make a day of (awesome library, cute stores, even McDonald's and Panera down the road).

Smile spot has been much more than a resource for excellent oral care for our children. Dr. Steven and his team have cultivated a true community, inclusive of all children and families. Our two toddlers love visiting, playing, and learning how to care for their oral hygene. As a mom, it is a relief to come to a place where we don't have to worry because all you receive is support. If you appreciate a welcoming atmosphere where you and children feel comfortable, this is the pediatric dentistry office for you.
Today we took our (almost) 3 year old to The Smile Spot for his first appointment. I was so hesitant to take him because he is extremely shy and nervous around people he doesn’t know, and I couldn’t imagine how the appointment would go. Would they even be able to ::look:: in his Mouth?? To my surprise, the appointment went amazingly well. From the second you walk in, staff is inviting, friendly and helpful. They were so good with my son and made him feel comfortable enough to work in his mouth, which says a lot for my shy guy. They have toys to play with while we wait, and a tv above each chair so he can watch Mickey Mouse during a cleaning if he wants. He sampled some fun flavors of toothpaste and He had a blast. Very efficient and informative appointment; I couldn’t be happier how it went and I Highly recommend The Smile Spot in Southbury.
Dr. Steven, his wife and the staff are absolutely fantastic!! The office is so much fun as well. No tears here! My son runs in to see Dr. Steven. Love this place!
Amazing. I wish there was a better word....superb! Holistic care for children. Make you feel like your at home but more importantly loved, and empower you and your whole family.
My 3 year old is a very nervous child. Doctors appointments are usually all day of me having to talk him down once we leave the office. Not at smile spot. He waltzed right in like he owned the office to be greeted by happy smiling faces. Played with all the wonderful toys for about 15 minutes and that’s when Nicole came out to start his journey back. My kid is very stranger wary usually, but he acted as if Nicole was his long lost best friend. She interacted with him exactly how he wanted to be interacted with. He had so much fun the hardest part was getting him back in the car to go home! I would recommend smile spot to anyone (highest recommendation mind you) but especially if you have a nervous or special needs child. The care in this office is outstanding. I can’t believe that MY kid was so comfortable in an office. Get your kids an appointment now!

We had our very first visit today. My son was anxious (as he usually is with new experiences, especially doctor visits), but that all changed once we got there. The entire staff goes above and beyond to establish a connection with your kids and make them feel comfortable. The hygienists we saw, Marlee & Stephanie, and Dr. Kest really care and take the time to explain what they are doing in a really fun and engaging way. They also had great tips and reward charts to encourage better brushing at home, which I found helpful. The kids loved picking out their toothbrushes and getting to come home with fun prizes and balloons. I’m glad my kids don’t have to experience the cold and clinical experience a lot of us had going to the dentist when we were growing up. Thank you to everyone at Smile Spot!
My 3 kids started going to Smile Spot last year and they love it. The staff is super nice and extremely friendly. They really know how to take care of kids. I highly recommend this office as it has been a great experience every time we go.
This place is amazing. Today brought in my two daughters, my 4 year old and my 10 month old. My youngest warmed up very fast let the staff do what they needed to. While my oldest had a hard time warming up but every single person that attended to her took their time making her feel comfortable. Had so much patience with her until she was okay with letting them do what they needed to do. At the end she didn’t even want to leave and asked to go back with all her friends she made at the office. Lauren , Stephanie , Dr Stephen , Sam , Tali and everyone else in that office were just so wonderful. Found this pediatric dentist by accident and I’m so happy I had the chance to have my daughters first experience a great one. Definitely recommend this dentist to all.

All of the staff at the smile spot are passionate and excited about deliverng the best dental care for your children. You feel important, remembered, and cared about the minute you walk through the door. The environment supports a postive experience visiting the dentist, and my children (currently 2 and 3) actually get excited to go because they are praised for what they do well and receive prizes at the end of the visit. Our first visit felt overwhelming because of all the information they share, and because of the energy and toys. I've grown to appreciate all three of those things as my children have aged. They are always willing and ready to have any and all conversations and to support you, as a parent. We love the community feeling this business has cultivated.
Smile Spot is a hidden gem! Dr. Kest and the entire staff were super welcoming. Tali made sure my experience was not overwhelming by helping me every step of the way with electronic paperwork, introducing me to the team and showing me around the office. The atmosphere was cozy and fun- My 3 year old didn’t want to leave. My 7-year old has special needs and I couldn’t have found a more perfect place to make his dental experience comfortable and extremely enjoyable!

Nathan had a fantastic time at the Smile Spot. From start to finish the whole visit has been amazing. Their customer service is top notch everyone has been friendly and welcoming making the entire experience fear free for Nathan. It completely turned him around. We took our 1 year old little boy here for the first time today and he not only loved it, but so did we! The staff and doctor were absolutely amazing and made us feel so comfortable! They made our son feel like it was a fun activity, not at all like the dentist. Starting him at the dentist early was important to us, and his doctor. We can’t wait for our 6 month appointment.
First time at The Smile Spot and my kids are really enjoying their visit. This office is simply amazing. We first brought our daughter there when she was 3, and to say she was a challenge is an understatement. Dr. Kest and his staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable and gain her trust. She had to have a couple procedures done, which was stressful for us emotionally and financially. They were there for us, they made her needs affordable and did whatever they could to make sure we were all cared for. Now she’s 5 and she LOVES going to the dentist. They make it fun, they make it welcoming and enjoyable for the kids. Our daughter now talks off everyone’s ear there, makes funny faces and lets them do whatever is needed for her teeth. For anyone who needs an amazing dentist who is thorough, has great technology, and genuinely cares about the kids and the parents, I would highly recommend them.
Awesome, just awesome!!! I have a 15 year old autistic son. We have gone to other dentist offices with horrible results. We finally found a dentist office that totally gets autism (and other special needs). My son didn't want to leave Smile Spot and now that we are home he wants to go back!!! So happy to have found Smile Spot - it is like winning the lottery!
My kids hated going to the dentist before. Now they LOVE going and are excited when I tell them that they have a dentist appointment. They have had cavities filled and still want to go back! The staff is friendly and always happy. The owners enjoy what they are doing and are vey hands on. If you have any questions they are there to talk to.

I brought my son here after a bad visit at look smiles in Waterbury. That was the best thing they could have done for me and my toddler Tyty that needed his front tooth removed. The 1st visit went well they explained everything, the staff was very nice and professional. My son left me with no hesitation(that was pleasing and displeasing☺😡😂at the same time). The place is wonderful. I recommend them to everyone I speak to now. The 15 minute ride from Waterbury is well worth it. My only regret is I didn't know about them with my other 3 kids. Son's tooth is gone from the 2nd visit and he talks about the dentist like he loves it. I'm over joyed. Thanks smile spot😀😀😀
I brought my daughter here for the first time today after my daughter had a terrible experience at the previous dentist. She went to school later and told her friends that it was the best dentist she ever had! And you know what? It was amazing!! The dentist and his entire staff are amazing and they do a lot of awesome stuff for the kids. They do a candy buy back program at Halloween. Which kid doesn't like cold hard cash? (Shopkins anyone? Lol) A picnic at Quassy in the summer and a bunch of other stuff. They reward the kids for everything!!! And they take their time. No kid is ever rushed! I almost cried when Sydney told me she can't wait to go back! Highly recommend The smile spot!
This dental practice is amazing!! From the phone call to the second you walk through the door every person is so friendly. This was the best choice switching to this office for my kids. So many activities in the waiting room for the kids while they wait to be seen. My kids can’t wait to come back for the next visit.
If i could give 30 stars, I would!! Dr. Steven amd his staff are full of positive energy. The office is super cool; my son loves going to the dentist. Everyone makes you feel special. They remeber you and interact. The hygentists are amazing. This week everyone was dressed up and buying candy back to donate to the troops. I just can't say enough about them. The very first time we visited I was pleasantly surprised not only about their happy, bubbly and caring staff but mostly I was amazed at how good and understanding they were with my son (he has autism and ADHD). We have been there for some years now and we still feel like family every time we stop by. Dr Stephen and his wife Tali genuinely care about all of their patients not only the medical part but they care like a good friend would. I love when we sit down and talk about our kids and our lives in general. Another amazing thing about them is that they are always looking for ways to help the community: visiting schools to talk about dental health, sponsoring scouts derby cars, fundraisers like the smile spot movie day where the proceeds go to local charities, buy back program where they buy back the kids Halloween candy to send it to the troops overseas and their we love our patients day at Quassy where not only do they have a great party for us but also they raise money for the local food bank. I recommend them to everyone I know because they're amazing. I really wish they would take parents too because I would be first in line :)
My kids have been coming to The Smile Spot for about two years. The staff is very wonderful every time we are here. They are cheerful, and fun. My kids are no longer afraid to get their teeth cleaned and they even ask when they get to come back. We couldn't be happier that we found this wonderful dentist.
Smile spot is a great place my children love the dentist, and they had fear at the past dentist. This has been a wonderful experience and all family's should join this office!

All of the staff here are absolutely fantastic, super nice, and answer any questions you may have. They make my daughter very comfortable to be here. When you walk in, there are toys for the kids to play with. They make going to the dentist Fun! I would highly recommend the Smile Spot Childrens Dentistry.

What an amazing office. So impressed with the doctor and the staff. I have two special needs children and it is usually a very challenging day when we have appointments with our children. The office was amazing the kids had a great visit. The office focuses on the children's needs and let's them get comfortable with the staff before they approach them with seeing the dentist they left feeling happy and want to go back soon. Most doctors In practices don't focus the attention on the child's needs this office definitely does. I am so pleased that the special needs community has a doctor that understands that this awesome approach to dentistry makes the children and family's feel safe and have fun while having dental care at the same time.
This place is simply wonderful. It was my daughter's first time going to a dentist, and her experience couldn't be better. Super friendly and professional staff. My daughter didn't want to leave the office, and when we finally did it, she asked when were we comming back?

We LOVE visiting Doctor Stephen! We've been going to the Smile spot since my daughter was about 18 months and she is now 4. I never imagined my child would be excited to go see her dentist! The staff is incredible and patient and the dentists are so knowledgeable and truly love teeth and want them to be great. I would recommend this dentist to anyone!!
