I highly recommend this dental practice, especially for families with children who may have anxiety about visiting the dentist. From the moment you walk through the door, you are greeted by a warm, friendly, and welcoming team. The office itself is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable environment for both children and adults. My son is autistic and had a difficult experience at a previous dental office, so I was understandably nervous about finding a new provider. The entire staff treated him with patience, kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion. They took the time to help him feel comfortable and at ease, never making him feel rushed or pressured. Their ability to create a positive experience transformed what could have been a stressful appointment into one where my son felt safe, respected, and cared for. It is clear that everyone in the practice is committed to providing exceptional care while meeting each patient where they are. If you have a child who is nervous about dental visits, has sensory sensitivities, or simply needs a little extra understanding and support, I cannot recommend this practice highly enough

Dr. Stephen’s is the most gentle, kind man. He makes taking your kids to the dentist a breeze and the kids actually love going now. It helps that they always get to pick a fun prize when they are done! My daughter recently broke two teeth and I was told to come right in! The whole staff was so understanding and sympathetic towards both of us and put us completely at ease, with a great plan for fixing the teeth. I can’t recommend this office more.

I initial saw him for a second opinion on fillings that our other dentist said “needed” to be done. Best pediatric dentist ever! My son is an incredibly anxious and sensitive fellow. Our first experience at a pediatric dentist was a nightmare, and had me afraid we were going to be dealing with a life-long aversion to dental appointments. But then we were pointed towards Tailwinds, and everything changed for the better! Dr. Stephens is a wonderful human being, and a fantastic dentist. My son was instantly put at ease, the exam went great, and now he looks forward to going back every 6 months. I still can't believe the difference! I will always and forever recommend this place. And I hope they'll be willing to see my son until he's 40 years old. Lol!

I have 3 girls and have been seeing Dr. Stephens for 15 years! We were in Edina/Richfield and switched to his Wayzata location last year (which is beautiful) when we moved out west. He is so friendly, fast and realistic. Never pushes us into unneeded procedures and my girls feel so comfortable with him and his staff. He also always accommodates appointments where I get all 3 kids in at once. No need for multiple appointments. I cannot recommend enough! Absolutely love him and the practice. I trust his advice from toddler to teen!

The dental office is very kid-friendly with toys and fun colored cushion seats in the waiting room and fun art throughout the clinic area. We took our “just-turned-two” year old today and she was very nervous to go to the dentist. She ended up loving it! The hygienist and dentist could see she was reserved and they let her inspect/hold the tools, counted teeth together and let her pick a prize. She didn’t want to leave! While we didn’t get an exam (my daughter wasn’t comfortable with a full exam) they made the dentist a fun and nice place vs scary. And they even got some brushing and fluoride on her!! Would recommend to anyone!

After a bad first visit with another pediatric dentist (judgmental, chaotic, told me my child would end up in the OR at age 2, etc) we came here for a second opinion. What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The front desk staff are so helpful and kind and the dental hygienists are caring and truly great at working with kids. The dentist we’ve been seeing is lovely as well and isn’t the least bit pushy - he clearly understands children. My daughter had her first cavities filled here and because of the warmth and thoughtfulness of the whole staff, it was a wonderful experience. While she was scared initially, she actually described it as fun afterward. ❤️ Oh, and the prizes they get to pick from at the end of each visit are impressive - my daughter looks forward to this every time!

Excellent 1st time experience. We are new to MN and Tailwind came very highly recommended by fb moms groups. Our 4 kids were able to all be seen at the same time, Fast efficient and gentle service. Warm and Friendly dentist and hygienists. The office is clean, bright, modern and and welcoming. My 6 yr old has a fear of dental work from his previous dentist and this was the first time he sat through an entire cleaning with no tears! My son is a gagger. It is almost impossible for him to do the standard bite wing x-rays. This is why we started going to tailwind- they do s different type of X-ray. My son has no issues with going to the dentist now. We are very happy with the service we receive at tailwind.

The whole process was very kid-friendly; the hygienist introduced our daughter to all the tools and let her touch them and see how they worked. Fantastic. After having been turned away by many pediatric dentists we were begining to feel as though our daughter who has many profound physical and cognitive disabilities would never get the dental care she needed. Thankfully Tailwind proved that was not the case, they got us on the schedule for an initial consultation with 3 weeks of the first time I called and have her scheduled to have her dental needs taken care of under anesthesia at children's less than 3 months after that! We are impressed to say the least.

We had a wonderful consultation at Tailwind. Dr. Stephens took the time to sit with us, hear our concerns and answered all of the questions I had. We felt important to him and his care was a breath of fresh air. After doing multiple consultations I trust that Dr. Stephens is only doing the work needed and not the extra "preventative" treatment that others included in their plan. We are so grateful for the opportunity to do in office sedation at a reasonable price, compared to the cost of hospital anesthesia for our young child to get the treatment needed. Additionally their prices are reasonable! We gladly make the long drive from the Fargo-Moorhead area and will recommend Tailwind to friends and family in a similar situation to us!

Beyond impressed! We switched to Tailwind after a bad experience with another pediatric dentist. I was cranky and frustrated and they brought positivity back to my sons dental experience. He used to hide and cry in fear. He’s now been to Tailwind twice and is feeling confident! Last visit they cleaned his cavities with a lazer, which he thought was sooooo cool, and it literally took 5 min. I’m blown away. We are going back next week to get a tooth “wiggled” out- cross your fingers! My son usually needs surgery and to be asleep. We love it there already!

We brought our kids here because they had a hard time getting x-rays at the adult dentist. We saw Tammy the hygienist and she was wonderful! She was really patient and quick and our kids really liked how she engaged with them. They were even able to get x-rays because their tools are made just for kids! Our 5 year old had 2 huge cavities that required crowns and Dr. Stephens did an awesome job! He's had the crowns in for about 6 months now and we have had no problems at all. Dr. Stephens was also really good with our son. He was calm and fun, answered all of the questions our son had, and sang silly songs to keep it upbeat. We really enjoyed the office, the staff, and the work.

My infant son recently had a tongue and lip laser frenectomy with Dr. Taylor. The staff was all very kind. Dr Taylor was thorough in his assessment and answered our many questions with honesty and made sure we had enough information before making a decision to go through with the procedure. He also explained the “stretches” we would have to perform on our baby before we made a decision to do the procedure. Our baby was upset after, but the staff did everything they could to help us soothe him! I’ve already seen an improvement in his latch and am looking forward to visiting again when the baby has teeth!

Dr Stephens is awesome! We used to go elsewhere until my daughter had 2 cavities. The other place tried once to fill them and she wouldn’t cooperate. They only option they gave us was to come back and undergo general anesthesia. As you can imagine this is very costly. We decided to go to Tailwinds for a second opinion. It took us 3 appointments to get 2 fillings in but Dr Stephens and his staff were super patient and allowed us to keep coming back. We have since transferred all care to Tailwinds. They definitely earned our business! Highly recommend!

I am beyond happy that we found this dentist!! We were referred to a pediatric dentist because our soon to be 6 year old had 2 cavities that needed to be filled. From the first visit everyone was so welcoming. My daughter was so excited to go back to get her cavities filled with “sparkles”! The laser was AMAZING!!! No need to use Novacaine. The process of getting cavities filled was fast and painless for my daughter...so impressed!!! The Dentist explained what he was doing and talked to her the whole time, he made the experience excellent! She left with a huge smile on her face-thank you!!

The awesome staff in Wayzata took all three of my children - ages 6, 4 and 2, and did their appointments at the same time. I was a little nervous, but they handled everything amazingly! They were so sweet with my energetic and curious crew, including my son who was very nervous after previous work done elsewhere. Dr. Stephens was really kind, and encouraging to me as a mom (which I really needed)! We will be making the two hour drive back again.

Went here for a “second opinion” for a preschooler with a lot of cavities. Dr Stephens was so nice and gentle and explained everything thoroughly. The estimate also came out much cheaper than our previous one. No work has been done yet, so I’ll update again after, but so far I am extremely glad we came here for our second opinion. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a kind, gentle, fair, pediatric dental option. Update: we’ve had 2 out of 4 treatment appointments done, including an extraction for a preschooler and the dentist has been awesome at all of them.
