Van hire was great. Easy pickup and communication from start to finish. We did have a few minor issues with the van during the hire. Once we got back to drop the van off we communicated this with Seney and he was extremely easy to deal with and come up with a resolution to the dramas. We understand things happen and he handled everything so well!

We had a really good experience renting from starRV for our New Zealand trip. The vehicle was a great size for us and was handed over in good condition. It also came very well equipped with pretty much everything we needed for the trip, including cooking utensils, bedding, plates and cutlery. There were even thoughtful extras like a toaster and wine glasses, which made living in the campervan very comfortable. One area that could be improved would be the handover process. We felt that it could have been a little more thorough, as we were mostly left to carry out the vehicle checks ourselves. Thankfully, we had come prepared with a detailed checklist and were able to clarify anything we were unsure about with the starRV staff. To their credit, the service staff were very helpful and patient in answering all our questions. We also would have appreciated having the option to choose the vehicle generation or model, rather than having one randomly assigned, especially since there can be differences between the newer and older vehicles. Overall, though, we had a positive experience with starRV. The campervan was comfortable, well equipped and suited our trip very well. I would definitely consider renting from starRV again for another New Zealand road trip.

This campervan experience was beyond expectations, with a fully contained van featuring updated technology including lane assist, adaptive speed control and plenty of space. I also quickly stopped worrying about energy consumption and charging capability as the battery lasted quite a while and I had no issues with charging devices. The bed was comfortable although I’m 6’5” so I got a bit tired of not fitting after a while. The petrol last a good while. Over 4000kms, I refuelled maybes 4-5 times. My only gripe was that the water and grey water tank digital meters were far from accurate, only providing a reading at the nearest 25% which would be skewed massively if I was on a slope.

Picking up our campervan at Perth Airport was seamless from start to finish, largely thanks to Coby. The pickup location made getting on the road completely hassle-free. Coby was fantastic—friendly, professional, and thorough. He walked us through every feature of the campervan, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure we felt 100% confident operating everything before we drove off. We had an amazing experience with Star RV! We travelled from Adelaide to Perth and covered nearly 4,000 km in the van. Everything went really smoothly, the van was great, and it allowed us to have an incredible road trip and visit some absolutely amazing places along the way. It was amazing trip travelling around in WA for 5 weeks. I was amazed that the Van (Hired under RVStar) had run very well which I have driven over 33.000km. I admitted I have wish to choose bigger size of the Van as the Van I hired was quite too small inside the Van for me but main thing the Van run very well to many places I had visited in WA. WA are truly amazing and beautiful country even the local people are quite friendly people.

Campervan is a great way to see NZ. Our Star RV served the purpose very well. we had the 6 Berth Ivesco van and this drove very well. the van was comfortable. The team was wonderful to deal with, they seemed very focused on helping us to have the best experience possible, were happy to supply more linen 1/2 way through the trip. It was an easy pick up & drop off.

Our Star RV Polaris 6 was great for 3 adults to enjoy a trip from Adelaide to Perth. Both depots are close enough to each airport to make it very convinient to collect and drop off the van. It was an older van but mechanically we felt very safe and had no problems on the trip. There were no hitches when booking the van and when we needed to change drop off dates the staff accomidated us professionally and witout any hassles. They were great to del with all round. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Hired the 2 person van from Star RV and had a very good experience. The van was a good layout and fully supplied with everything we needed for life on the road. The pick up process was a little slow as lots of people arrived at once and there was no queuing system to ensure people were seen in order of arrival. The drop off was very easy however and Seney was great guiding us through the process. I would definitely recommend this business and would use them again.

Found the Polaris 4 a bit cramped and for us,an older couple, would have preferred a fixed bed lower to deck level. The awning was a nightmare for us and needs improvements. But overall very happy with the van

Absolutely loved our 14 day roadtrip. Vehicle was in great order. We had a couple of hiccups (not their fault) during the trip which were both rectified quickly. Staff were professional and friendly on pick up and drop off. We will be using Star Rv again.

Helpful staff, easy pick up and drop off. Campervan was well maintained and fitted out, very comfortable. No problems with small issues of wear and tear of the vehicle after over 4 weeks on the road. Overall positive experience, definitely use them again.

My friends and I took a road trip around the South Island at the beginning of June and we booked with Star RV for a 6 person camper van. All of the staff, both from Christchurch and Queenstown were incredibly nice and helpful. Seney at the Christchurch location was so kind to us as he helped us to correct an error we had made in our booking. He worked patiently with us and treated us with so much kindness, despite being an unorganized group of young Americans. Our camper van was excellent for our trip and was well worth the price we paid. Our heater was not working at the beginning of the trip, but Jim from Star RV responded promptly and worked with us to send a heating and air worker to our campsite. Every worker we met at Star RV was helpful and friendly. When I return in the future, I will definitely book with Star RV again.

We had a wonderful journey with our Star RV campervan! The motorhome was well-equipped and provided incredible convenience for our road trip across New Zealand. The check-in and hand-over process went smoothly. Just a couple of minor points for improvement:1. We encountered a slight issue with draining the grey water/waste water hose at times. 2. The side awning was not functional during our trip. Overall, it was still a fantastic rental experience! Thanks for making our New Zealand trip so memorable.

Quick easy pickup and drop off but unfortunately no airport service and used DidiVery easy to go through pickup routine and simple clear instructions RV was clean and easy to move around and had a cold fridge and a heap of storage I found it easy to drive and pretty economical on fuel and drove to Hervey Bay and back on less than a tank of fuel The double bed was very comfortable and I slept well The electronic controls to turn on/off shower , water pump etc was very easy The two staff at pick up were very friendly , multilingual and helpful and return was even easier !!!!

The core of our experience was the vehicle itself, A Fiat based Polaris-2 fitted into normal parking bays, handled like a sports car and was in off grid setup. This gave us proper independance while exploring the Daintree out of the Cairns depot. 1st class experience.

We had an amazing trip, and every single experience made it memorable. The motorhome was beautiful, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed, making our journey enjoyable from start to finish. I do have a couple of suggestions that could make the experience even better. Firstly, the grey water drain hose was too short. We stayed at six different campgrounds, and it only reached the drain at one of them, so a longer hose would be very helpful. Secondly, the pick-up process took quite a while. Having more staff available during vehicle collection would help reduce waiting times and make the experience much smoother. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily recommend Starrv to others.

It was easy to drive and contained all we needed to be self-sufficient. The booking service was exceptional, especially since we needed to add an extra day to our booking. Our experience overall with renting a Camper from StarRV was flawless, we enjoyed it a lot! They were super friendly for the pickup and drop-off and also when we had a small problem once, they fixed it quickly in Queenstown! As we booked it out of season we did get a pretty good offer as well and the camper itself (Polaris 6) was very well maintained! They are also stationed close to the airport which makes it super convenient and they even offered us a shuttle after the drop off! Overall very pleasant experience, would recommend! :)

it should have been a prefect if we did not have to turn back from Te Anau to Queenstown as our vehicle which is Polaris 2, had the oil engine light lit up. There was alot miscommunications during the car exchange. Wasted half day in Star RV headquaters in Queenstown because had to wait for our vehicle. We had to change to new car, repack our stuaff and move to the new RV. The new RV was much better the. the first. I hope the company take things seriously and inspect the vehicle thoroughly before handing it to customer. To those who are planning to rent RV, check the smal details such as clean water hose is long enough, with the large pipe adaptor is provided too. 3 week star rv polaris 2 hire from aukland to christchurch over autumn. Van was comfy and reliable, spacious, easy to drive, good fuel economy. Went through rat pack for initial booking. Had an issue with a chipped windscreen mid journey, sorted on the road with roadside team, repaired and paid for via premium insurance. Drop off was painless, efficient and speedy despite a lost set of keys for the toilet casette. Would reccomend this company, van & New Zealand.

Highly recommended! Good standard of vehicle & service - drivability, equipment and quick response to issues. Had an electrical issue with the van on 1st night and they sent two mobile sparkys (12v and 240v) to fix the problem at a rendezvous point the next day!
Last minute RV cancellation
We made a RV booking with Star RV through Ratpack travel and sadly 2 weeks before arring in Australia had to cancel due to middle east travel restrictions . Both Ratpack and Star RV were fantastic with us when we cancelled. Our deposit understandingly was not refundable but Ratpack travel and Star RV have offered to hold our deposit for 2 years allowing us to use it on a future trip next year . Brilliant service from day 1 and wonderful customer service .

Overall a very good experience, but it didn’t start well. The motorhome wasn’t ready and we had a delay of a few hours. However the vehicle was great. Lots of equipment for a good journey that included a couple of freedom camps. Easy to drive and park, we were stopped and ready to have a beer in 5 minutes! Cooked meals for 3 adults every night in the vehicle! Fridge and hob big enough to cope. Plenty of storage space too. We stayed in Top 10 sites around NZ and they were excellent. The staff at Star RV were all very helpful and they did a great job getting us sorted.
Good experience
We booked the Polaris 2 through Ratpack Travel, to drive from Brisbane to Cairns. We had to wait around a hour for the camper to be sorted on pick up despite booking a pick up time. The camper van was fairly clean and in a good condition, modern and exactly how it was advertised. Unfortunately we didn’t check our electric cable before we left and when we got to our first powered campsite it was partially melted. It was resolved by a phone call to the emergency number who stated we’d be reimbursed for buying a new cable, which we were. Just make sure you check the state of the camper before you leave the pick up location, check the cables and watch the help videos that they have. Overall we had a great experience.
Travelling with twin toddlers - Polaris 6 had all the space we needed
We picked up the Polaris 6 for our 7,5 week road trip from Auckland, staff were friendly and helpful. The camper is very spacious and we had plenty of room with the 4 of us. Along the way we stopped at the other locations of StarRV to swap our linen, which is a great service when your on the road for so long. If your planning on doing a road trip with a family of 4 or 5, then definitely check out the Polaris 6 of StarRV.

The staff were very pleasant and extremely patient with us, as we encountered some issues with our credit card. The transfer of the van was completed efficiently and without any issues. We recommend that you examine the crockery and washbasin. Unfortunately, it came to our attention during the journey that these items had not been cleaned or washed. It is evident that the dried fruits were not fresh. Alles andere war in Ordnung. I would therefore only award a rating of four stars.

It was pretty great using the van. The customer service folks were really nice and hard working. They really put in a lot of effort to help me rent a van and when problems came up some of them were really great about following up and problem solving. There were some buttons that didn't hold the curtains in place for the window which was particularly cumbersome for the back window and the fuel cap wouldn't come off unless another person was present. It was also extremely difficult to find places to fill up the lpg gas. But after hours on the phone with the help team, we finally figured it out that I could just open the cap with my key or a spatula, so the car didn't have to go in for repairs. Thanks for everything!

Good and bad with our experience with star Rv in Christchurch. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The pick up shuttle from the airport was easy to organise. We were offered some compensation for the things that went wrong. On the downside: The office closes at 4pm making a very tight turnaround for the incoming international flights which arrive early afternoon. The van itself while comfortable had a number of niggling issues such as a skylight that leaked when it rained )and it rained a fair amount) blinds that were difficult to use and rather junky cabinetry. The van also uses a 8kg gas bottle which has to be topped up rather than exchanged - which proved to be rather inconvenient - for example in Te Anau the only place to get a top up was only open min to Thurs from 9-10am. Others we met en route seemed to have better fitted vans and experiences so it could be we just had an unlucky pick.

Smooth pick-up. Must to-do for someone who wants to have a different experience compared to driving an SUV & living in hotels. The motorhome had all the facilities, in some cases better than a motel or a 3 star hotel, and offers great comfort. The drive in the city can be challenging especially parking in the downtown but you always learn overtime. Highly recommend to everyone who is looking to drive in North & South Island. We were very grateful, since we picked up the caraban. the staff was very friendly and pleasant. Even though there were few workers and they seemed very busy. They gave us a small explanation of the use of the camper, since it was our first time in a camper. But the one I want to thank the most was the girl in Queenstown who, even though she was completely alone, gave us great treatment and helped us a lot. The only thing I could have to complain about would be that the shuttle from the airport to the office took a long time. but the driver was extremely friendly and that helped.

The campervan we rented from StarRV was the STAR of our trip. We had a great experience driving it around the north part of the South Island of NZ. It was clean, comfortable and most importantly safe driving the windy roads, up and down and over the mountains. At first i was quite sceptical because of all the reviews. But i was surprised how everything went really smooth. At airport pickup shuttle was there to pick us up in 10 minutes. The check in was also smooth we got our vehicle in 10 minutes of arrival. To avoid any problems on the road. We did the inspection of the van before getting on the road. Even on the road the vehicle didn’t let us down. Everything worked perfectly fine. There were no complaints with the van as. We had the best time of our life during the trip. During the drop off we arrived 8 minuted before closer and we were really anxious the whole way thinking they might be closed but we were lucky,staff helped us with the drop off and also went beyond the expectations and dropped us off to the airport even after their shuttle was closed for the day.

We've just finished a 3 week trip (2 weeks south Island, 1 week north) in the Star Polaris 6. We were a family of 4 but hired the 6 berth for a little extra room which was recommended by the booking team, and I'm really glad we did that as it meant we could leave our beds permanently set up, and have a table for meals that also stayed set up. The whole process of hiring, picking up, and returning was very smooth, and when we had a technical issue with the gas cooker, the phone support and follow up was excellent. I couldn't fault it, we had the most amazing holiday!

Perfect Van for 2 people Polaris 2 (We toured NZ South Island for 2 weeks) - easy to drive auto with all the mod cons - thank god for the diesel heater! made free camping that much better but only if you put the INSULATED privacy screens up! don't freeze the 1st night like we did - rookie mistake - fridge works well when set on flat out. Front swivel seats great idea which makes it easier when having guests -if it's winter get 2 quilts. you'll need it. couple minor maintenance issues with the van that were attended to quickly in Queenstown depot as I phoned ahead. all in all i would use again no worries

Just be aware not to bring big bags if you want to travel in one because there is no designated place for luggage. The rattling noise should be looked into.

We had a great experience and saw so much in 6 days in really good comfort. I'm sorry for the people that didn't have a good experience. We looked after our van so that it would be good for the next people to enjoy, as much as we did. We saw Tekapo, Pukaki, Aoraki, Te Anau, Manapouri, Seals, Penguins, Aurora Australis, Starry nights, kiwi prints on a lake all to ourselves, pristine lakes and rivers.... and so much more we got to see of this magical country of ours. My experience with StarRV was amazing!!! Polaris Nova was our home for 6 days and we had the best experience ever. Nice shower, with separate toilet, heaps of storage spaces and comfortable bed. I couldn't not miss the chance to share my review because I had my doubts in the beginning based on previous reviews... but compared to other's prices we decided to give it a go and I highly recommend them, as the Star RV team were really helpful. Good experience overall. The motorhome was pretty well equipped (but a coffee maker would’ve been nice!), with some decent features like being able to heat water off the electrics (when plugged in). Everything worked as it should’ve, and was mostly pretty clean when we picked it up. We were kept waiting 2-3 hrs on pickup for it to be cleaned and serviced, but they at least compensated us for the lost time. Overall pretty happy with the service, especially versus other motorhome rental companies we’ve used in the past.
