We had a really good experience renting from starRV for our New Zealand trip. The vehicle was a great size for us and was handed over in good condition. It also came very well equipped with pretty much everything we needed for the trip, including cooking utensils, bedding, plates and cutlery. There were even thoughtful extras like a toaster and wine glasses, which made living in the campervan very comfortable. One area that could be improved would be the handover process. We felt that it could have been a little more thorough, as we were mostly left to carry out the vehicle checks ourselves. Thankfully, we had come prepared with a detailed checklist and were able to clarify anything we were unsure about with the starRV staff. To their credit, the service staff were very helpful and patient in answering all our questions. We also would have appreciated having the option to choose the vehicle generation or model, rather than having one randomly assigned, especially since there can be differences between the newer and older vehicles. Overall, though, we had a positive experience with starRV. The campervan was comfortable, well equipped and suited our trip very well. I would definitely consider renting from starRV again for another New Zealand road trip.

We hired a self contained vehicle, it was perfect for my partner and I. Got us up mountains and navigated through towns/cities with ease. It's automatic and cruise control, so even on long journeys we could relax and enjoy the views around us. The staff we've met have all been very friendly and informative. Collecting the van was quick and easy, easy to drop off and they shuttle you to and from the airport if needed. When we return, would happily use this company again to hire a vehicle from!

This campervan experience was beyond expectations, with a fully contained van featuring updated technology including lane assist, adaptive speed control and plenty of space. I also quickly stopped worrying about energy consumption and charging capability as the battery lasted quite a while and I had no issues with charging devices. The bed was comfortable although I’m 6’5” so I got a bit tired of not fitting after a while. The petrol last a good while. Over 4000kms, I refuelled maybes 4-5 times. My only gripe was that the water and grey water tank digital meters were far from accurate, only providing a reading at the nearest 25% which would be skewed massively if I was on a slope.

Picking up our campervan at Perth Airport was seamless from start to finish, largely thanks to Coby. The pickup location made getting on the road completely hassle-free. Coby was fantastic—friendly, professional, and thorough. He walked us through every feature of the campervan, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure we felt 100% confident operating everything before we drove off. His local tips and warm service set a great tone for the whole trip. Exceptional service from Coby made all the difference—we would definitely book through this location again!

Weve used Star RV for the 3rd time now. They are on the pricer side of campers however they are well equipped and have everything you need. Weve never needed to utilise the after hours services however when I called about a leak through the 6 berth, they did their best at 7pm at night to help and reimbursed us for the sealant we used. Just be aware, your Road User Charges will ve calculated at the END so for example, we did a 850k trip and were charged $70 NZD

We had an amazing experience with Star RV! We travelled from Adelaide to Perth and covered nearly 4,000 km in the van. Everything went really smoothly, the van was great, and it allowed us to have an incredible road trip and visit some absolutely amazing places along the way. It was amazing trip travelling around in WA for 5 weeks. I was amazed that the Van (Hired under RVStar) had run very well which I have driven over 33.000km. I admitted I have wish to choose bigger size of the Van as the Van I hired was quite too small inside the Van for me but main thing the Van run very well to many places I had visited in WA. WA are truly amazing and beautiful country even the local people are quite friendly people.

The team was wonderful to deal with, they seemed very focused on helping us to have the best experience possible, were happy to supply more linen 1/2 way through the trip. Our Star RV Polaris 6 was great for 3 adults to enjoy a trip from Adelaide to Perth. Both depots are close enough to each airport to make it very convinient to collect and drop off the van. It was an older van but mechanically we felt very safe and had no problems on the trip. There were no hitches when booking the van and when we needed to change drop off dates the staff accomidated us professionally and witout any hassles. They were great to del with all round. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Absolutely loved our 14 day roadtrip. Vehicle was in great order. We had a couple of hiccups (not their fault) during the trip which were both rectified quickly. Staff were professional and friendly on pick up and drop off. We will be using Star Rv again.

We had a wonderful journey with our Star RV campervan! The motorhome was well-equipped and provided incredible convenience for our road trip across New Zealand. The check-in and hand-over process went smoothly. Just a couple of minor points for improvement:1. We encountered a slight issue with draining the grey water/waste water hose at times. 2. The side awning was not functional during our trip. Overall, it was still a fantastic rental experience! Thanks for making our New Zealand trip so memorable.

Quick easy pickup and drop off but unfortunately no airport service and used DidiVery easy to go through pickup routine and simple clear instructions RV was clean and easy to move around and had a cold fridge and a heap of storage I found it easy to drive and pretty economical on fuel and drove to Hervey Bay and back on less than a tank of fuel The double bed was very comfortable and I slept well The electronic controls to turn on/off shower , water pump etc was very easy The two staff at pick up were very friendly , multilingual and helpful and return was even easier !!!!

The core of our experience was the vehicle itself, A Fiat based Polaris-2 fitted into normal parking bays, handled like a sports car and was in off grid setup. This gave us proper independance while exploring the Daintree out of the Cairns depot. 1st class experience.

BNE to SYD and back
We had an amazing trip, and every single experience made it memorable. The motorhome was beautiful, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed, making our journey enjoyable from start to finish. I do have a couple of suggestions that could make the experience even better. Firstly, the grey water drain hose was too short. We stayed at six different campgrounds, and it only reached the drain at one of them, so a longer hose would be very helpful. Secondly, the pick-up process took quite a while. Having more staff available during vehicle collection would help reduce waiting times and make the experience much smoother. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily recommend Starrv to others.

Man sollte wissen, dass diesen Modell (Kastenwagen) nicht gut isolierend ist aber mit Standheizung schnell eine gewünschte Temperatur bekommt. Wir konnten fast 2 Tage mit Solar und zweiter Batterie autark auf Freedom Campingplätzen ohne Strom stehen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und insgesamt 5600 Kilometer ohne große Probleme gemeistert. Wir würden wieder bei Star RV buchen, da es auch eine schnelle Abwicklung bei Annahme und Abgabe des Autos gab! Richtig toll!

Last minute RV cancellation
We made a RV booking with Star RV through Ratpack travel and sadly 2 weeks before arring in Australia had to cancel due to middle east travel restrictions . Both Ratpack and Star RV were fantastic with us when we cancelled. Our deposit understandingly was not refundable but Ratpack travel and Star RV have offered to hold our deposit for 2 years allowing us to use it on a future trip next year . Brilliant service from day 1 and wonderful customer service .

Our recent rental of a Polaris 2 was just the right size for touring the North Island. The swiveling of the front seats allowed for sitting inside and being able to keep the bed "made up". Solar power allowed for some freedom camping without power hookups, We never had to use the A/C or heating but all the other RV amenities worked fine. The Fiat diesel seemed to have lots of power and we were able to handle the narrow roads without difficulty. The pickup and drop off were relatively quick and professional , There was an issue with the grey water monitor and an apparent blockage that was remedied with a google fix . Star reimbursed for the enzyme treatment. All in all it was pretty much hassle free which is what you want on a holiday.

Good experience
We booked the Polaris 2 through Ratpack Travel, to drive from Brisbane to Cairns. We had to wait around a hour for the camper to be sorted on pick up despite booking a pick up time. The camper van was fairly clean and in a good condition, modern and exactly how it was advertised. Unfortunately we didn’t check our electric cable before we left and when we got to our first powered campsite it was partially melted. It was resolved by a phone call to the emergency number who stated we’d be reimbursed for buying a new cable, which we were. Just make sure you check the state of the camper before you leave the pick up location, check the cables and watch the help videos that they have. Overall we had a great experience.

We picked up the Polaris 6 for our 7,5 week road trip from Auckland, staff were friendly and helpful. The camper is very spacious and we had plenty of room with the 4 of us. Along the way we stopped at the other locations of StarRV to swap our linen, which is a great service when your on the road for so long. Picked up our big motorhome today. The van itself is stunning and so well equipped, I've stayed in smaller Airbnbs than this! We've not hired a camper this big before so it really helped that Christiano walked as through every detail of the van and answered all our questions as we went along. We now feel super confident and at ease with our new home for the next month thanks to her guidance! The rental company offers cars of various sizes for two to six people, which will satisfy most users. It is obvious that each car undergoes a thorough inspection before delivery and they are in good and clean condition, sufficiently well equipped. The staff is willing - they were able to accommodate us by changing the reserved car when we wanted a slightly smaller one that would accommodate two people. While waiting for the car to be prepared, the rental company provided us with a small passenger car so that we could arrange the shopping that we had planned and would not have time to do because of the preparation of the new motorhome. I perceive the service provided as very professional.

Our campervan was absolutely fantastic. The out was perfect, and everything just worked. It was the ideal size-not too small and not too big. Every detail had been thoughtfully designed for practicality with all the creature comforts of home. Plenty of storage for clothes and having a toilet and shower onboard felt like pure luxury and thebed was so comfortable. Overall this van had everything we needed to enjoy and explore all the beauty of NZ. Our whole trip went so smoothly without any problems whatsoever .. from the moment we picked up the van in Auckland, the friendly staff and ease of the whole process. We rented a Polaris 6 camper for 7.5 weeks from Auckland, and it was truly the perfect home on wheels for our little family of four. The staff at the location was very friendly and helpful, even helped with picking 2 identical child seats. The camper is very spacious for 2 adults and 2 infants, and especially the big fridge with separate freezer was the best for long stretches. We visited both the North and South Island, but this camper handled every road, campsite and adventure without a hitch. Even though we drive on the right side back home, having an automatic as a camper really helps. We highly recommend Star RV for your travels to NZ. Definitely coming back to NZ with Star RV in the future!

Check in was great although very fast. I would make sure you take photo of odometer when leaving as when we returned they were going to charge us double when we came back based on their calculations. Also as check out was so fast we didn’t make sure Heater worked - it did not. We had a flat tire - they were excellent with getting someone to us quickly to fix it. There were zero supplies in the RV like toilet paper or salt and pepper so we had to buy it all which seemed a waste for 6 days Staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend them just be watched up for these things.

When we needed an oil change they provided us with a Polaris 6 for the last 2 days of our rental period. Overall satisfied with their service as well as the condition of the Polaris 2 vehicle. Recently spent the entire month of March 2024 renting/living in a 6 person Nova Polaris traveling in New Zealand. The motorhome was new and in excellent condition. There were 4 of us traveling. We were very comfortable, loved the amenities the vehicle provided. It does help to be an experienced motorhome traveler. Managing water, knowing how things work especially the 3 way refrigerator (which loved to default to battery at random times), etc. is important to having a great vacation. As owner of Airstream travel trailer in the USA for past 7 years, that experience was heavily utilized. The reason I state this is you do not get good introduction upon renting to the systems found in the motorhome and need to read the owner manuals almost everyday to figure stuff out. Thankfully, I only had to read the 3 way frig and TV manuals to sort out some errors. Highly recommend traveling NZ in a motorhome. You will enjoy the freedom and being able to go places others cannot.

EDITED TO ADD We took our van back to Star Rv this morning, thankfully we had stayed pretty local to the Auckland area so it wasn't too much of a hardship for us. Upon arrival we were met by Cameron who was completely apologetic and understanding and said there was a new van waiting for us, just being cleaned. Thankfully we had this option. This van is immaculate, cleaned well, and has barely got a mark on it. Credit to Star RV for sorting us out. Thanks a million! Much more what we had in mind for our 3 week trip :) We picked this motorhome up having travelled for 32hrs so were a little tired when we picked it up. We have had 4 motorhomes in the past, same size as currently renting, and also rent out a motorhome privately back at home. If I had rented this one out to someone, I would be extremely embarrassed. RV is filthy, hair and crumbs all over bed, cushions all stained, roof grubby with marks, previous customers items in the van, windows filthy, the vehicle check sheet was not completed, and upon arriving at our first camp site, at least one of the tyres is bald (illegal). This is a vehicle that has done 175,000km, this is not what was advertised on your website, we have paid A LOT of money to hire a high spec, deluxe RV and this is not what we have received. Over 70 marks/scratches/dents on the bodywork, and fibreglass cracks, including the roof which can be seen internally as well. I very much doubt this van would be water tight. Camping chairs are broken, hook up cable tangled. Extremely disappointed. Will be bringing the van back to the office first thing tomorrow.
