Good experience
We booked the Polaris 2 through Ratpack Travel, to drive from Brisbane to Cairns. We had to wait around a hour for the camper to be sorted on pick up despite booking a pick up time. The camper van was fairly clean and in a good condition, modern and exactly how it was advertised. Unfortunately we didn’t check our electric cable before we left and when we got to our first powered campsite it was partially melted. It was resolved by a phone call to the emergency number who stated we’d be reimbursed for buying a new cable, which we were. Just make sure you check the state of the camper before you leave the pick up location, check the cables and watch the help videos that they have. Overall we had a great experience.

We picked up the Polaris 6 for our 7,5 week road trip from Auckland, staff were friendly and helpful. The camper is very spacious and we had plenty of room with the 4 of us. Along the way we stopped at the other locations of StarRV to swap our linen, which is a great service when your on the road for so long. If your planning on doing a road trip with a family of 4 or 5, then definitely check out the Polaris 6 of StarRV.

Picked up our big motorhome today. The van itself is stunning and so well equipped, I've stayed in smaller Airbnbs than this! We've not hired a camper this big before so it really helped that Christiano walked as through every detail of the van and answered all our questions as we went along. We now feel super confident and at ease with our new home for the next month thanks to her guidance! The whole team have been great and you have a great space to chill in if you have to wait for your vehicle. Thanks guys!

The rental company offers cars of various sizes for two to six people, which will satisfy most users. It is obvious that each car undergoes a thorough inspection before delivery and they are in good and clean condition, sufficiently well equipped. The staff is willing - they were able to accommodate us by changing the reserved car when we wanted a slightly smaller one that would accommodate two people. While waiting for the car to be prepared, the rental company provided us with a small passenger car so that we could arrange the shopping that we had planned and would not have time to do because of the preparation of the new motorhome. I perceive the service provided as very professional.

Our campervan was absolutely fantastic. The out was perfect, and everything just worked. It was the ideal size-not too small and not too big. Every detail had been thoughtfully designed for practicality with all the creature comforts of home. Plenty of storage for clothes and having a toilet and shower onboard felt like pure luxury and thebed was so comfortable. Overall this van had everything we needed to enjoy and explore all the beauty of NZ. Our whole trip went so smoothly without any problems whatsoever .. from the moment we picked up the van in Auckland, the friendly staff and ease of the whole process. We rented a Polaris 6 camper for 7.5 weeks from Auckland, and it was truly the perfect home on wheels for our little family of four. The staff at the location was very friendly and helpful, even helped with picking 2 identical child seats. The camper is very spacious for 2 adults and 2 infants, and especially the big fridge with separate freezer was the best for long stretches. We visited both the North and South Island, but this camper handled every road, campsite and adventure without a hitch. Even though we drive on the right side back home, having an automatic as a camper really helps. We highly recommend Star RV for your travels to NZ. Definitely coming back to NZ with Star RV in the future!

Check in was great although very fast. I would make sure you take photo of odometer when leaving as when we returned they were going to charge us double when we came back based on their calculations. Also as check out was so fast we didn’t make sure Heater worked - it did not. We had a flat tire - they were excellent with getting someone to us quickly to fix it. There were zero supplies in the RV like toilet paper or salt and pepper so we had to buy it all which seemed a waste for 6 days Staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend them just be watched up for these things.

When we needed an oil change they provided us with a Polaris 6 for the last 2 days of our rental period. Overall satisfied with their service as well as the condition of the Polaris 2 vehicle. Recently spent the entire month of March 2024 renting/living in a 6 person Nova Polaris traveling in New Zealand. The motorhome was new and in excellent condition. There were 4 of us traveling. We were very comfortable, loved the amenities the vehicle provided. It does help to be an experienced motorhome traveler. Managing water, knowing how things work especially the 3 way refrigerator (which loved to default to battery at random times), etc. is important to having a great vacation. As owner of Airstream travel trailer in the USA for past 7 years, that experience was heavily utilized. The reason I state this is you do not get good introduction upon renting to the systems found in the motorhome and need to read the owner manuals almost everyday to figure stuff out. Thankfully, I only had to read the 3 way frig and TV manuals to sort out some errors. Highly recommend traveling NZ in a motorhome. You will enjoy the freedom and being able to go places others cannot.

EDITED TO ADD We took our van back to Star Rv this morning, thankfully we had stayed pretty local to the Auckland area so it wasn't too much of a hardship for us. Upon arrival we were met by Cameron who was completely apologetic and understanding and said there was a new van waiting for us, just being cleaned. Thankfully we had this option. This van is immaculate, cleaned well, and has barely got a mark on it. Credit to Star RV for sorting us out. Thanks a million! Much more what we had in mind for our 3 week trip :) We picked this motorhome up having travelled for 32hrs so were a little tired when we picked it up. We have had 4 motorhomes in the past, same size as currently renting, and also rent out a motorhome privately back at home. If I had rented this one out to someone, I would be extremely embarrassed. RV is filthy, hair and crumbs all over bed, cushions all stained, roof grubby with marks, previous customers items in the van, windows filthy, the vehicle check sheet was not completed, and upon arriving at our first camp site, at least one of the tyres is bald (illegal). This is a vehicle that has done 175,000km, this is not what was advertised on your website, we have paid A LOT of money to hire a high spec, deluxe RV and this is not what we have received. Over 70 marks/scratches/dents on the bodywork, and fibreglass cracks, including the roof which can be seen internally as well. I very much doubt this van would be water tight. Camping chairs are broken, hook up cable tangled. Extremely disappointed. Will be bringing the van back to the office first thing tomorrow.
