This class killed me, it was so good! The instructor was very attentive and made the class such a fun challenge. Will definitely be going back.

Solidcore just might be one of the toughest workout classes I have ever done and I took an intro class too. If you're looking for a good work out that will really push you, this is it.

I came for my first class via ClassPass as checkin was seamless.
The reformers are pretty close to each other and I ended up getting one in front of the AC, which somewhat blocked my mirror view. Since it's an intro class, the instructor Maria went through each move step by step for us. It felt a bit slow at first, but when you're actually doing the exercises, they were extremely tough. They say if you're not shaking, then you're not pushing yourself enough. And girl, I was shakinggg!

I ended up being so sore for the next few days, so I had to take some major rest and massages.
Fair warning to really stretch. Solidcore isn't for the faint of heart for sure.

The sign is like the ones you set out for mosquitos. Let me explain I went here to review the location for yellow and being an intermediate Pilates girlie I said I got this, I lied and felt like I got drawn in by the light and got my ass Zapped by the instructor one move almost took all of my oxygen and what was in reserve. Definitely contemplated life for a moment but baby was I snatched the next day.

Love taking a class here! Studio is very cute, small but still 2 rows, perfect in my opinion. location is great very easy to find, instructors are nicest! Only con is locker/ changing area is super small. If you prefer bigger studios, this one is not for you

Alexis is the best front desk person. She’s so chill and helpful. Great vibe

Solidcore is really strength training on a reformer. There are some moves which are Pilates like but it's really a different kind of workout all together. I intentionally went here to build my core strength and it's definitely doing that. All of the instructors are fun with their own slight differences in how they teach. If you're an athlete, Pilates pro or have strength trained it's okay to hop right in. If you're newer to any of those I recommend the intro ones sessions they have.

It's key to take the breaks you need and not be intimidated by or compare to what you're neighbors are doing.
It's truly a workout to test and workout your own mental and physical strengths.

Only downside: they don't have stretching before or after as part of the class.
Big bummer.

I think I knew that pilates might not be my thing in the middle of the class when the instructor yelled out, "The power of Beyonce compels you!"

So I used to play soccer but since I'm old and can't hack it now, I recently joined ClassPass as a way to figure out how to keep eating whatever I want and not gain 50 pounds.

I've found out that I'm not a big pilates guy.
Yet.

While this wasn't necessarily my favorite workout I've done so far, I can report that it is FUCKING HARD, and judging by how every inch of my body was sore for two days, I think it will get you shredded if you stick with it.

After I told a couple of people I went here, I found out that Solidcore is not usually people's first introduction to pilates.
It's like picking knives over bean bags when you're first learning how to juggle.

But the studio is clean and fresh (and close to me), the insane torture device they use for class is unique, and I liked the instructor (her allegiance to Beyonce notwithstanding).
I think her name was Barbie.

I think I may even come back some time soon, if I'm man enough.
(So it's questionable.)

Solidcore is the best Pilates I've ever experienced. The staff here is so sweet and the trainers are top Terry. I always get a phenomenal workout and I highly recommend everyone give this a shot and try and stick it out for the first three weeks and your body will transform. the space is always clean and it's very secure. I've never had any problems here.

I want to give a shout out to my favorite trainers who are blaise, kasey and april!

I've taken over 30 classes at this studio and 100 altogether. I love this studio! Lex is the best. Definitely take her class if you can

There are 19 machines, 2 bathrooms and 1 change my room.
Lockers, water fountain but no showers. No sweat towels. And be sure you know the door code to get in!

Sometimes this studio is a little cold in the winter because one wall is all windows, so I'll bring a long sleeve or a sweatshirt with me.

If you've never done this class before, it's hard but it's good!
One of the best core workouts I've found and I've tried tons & tons of workout studios. Good for core and lower body. Not great for cardio, arms

Solidcore workouts will definitely humble you while making you feel stronger than ever. These classes are no joke but the instructors are super helpful & don't make you feel bad for taking breaks! The classes are on the pricier side but with class pass you can get a better deal. The space is always clean but it's very limited with lockers/changing rooms so I recommend coming already dressed. Overall I think this is a great way to mix up your workouts & put those smaller muscles to the test!

Anna was AMAZING & truly hands down really gave a full body workout for me. I thought she was like easy SYKE!!!!! Girl, my abs and arms right now as I type is TIGHT! OKAY, then the back of my legs SHOOT HUUUUH baby, they jello, okay, I have a leg it feels like that's how good of a workout was. My armssssss I don't know they are holding on its my fingers that can work. I know tomorrow imma feel this, so a bath tonight is gonna have to be a MUST.

Location is a little weird to find but thank goodness I looked up and was early.
The door is a little difficult to open so because I was early the front desk was able to help me in cause the pin wasn't working. That's the only negative point I have. The train is literally close so it is all walking distance.

The location is clean and super friendly.
Lockers are small but they have a coat hanger/rack available. The locks are a little difficult to reset.

I've taken 3 intro/ beginner classes here so far & I am enjoying it!

The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly and always encouraging.
The music is great and the facility is clean.

Will update after I've taken more classes!

The customer service at this location is impeccable! All the admin staff I’ve interacted with over the last year has always been so warm. I’m even looking to move to Williamsburg this year just so I can go to this studio more! I feel incredibly supported on my fitness journey. Whoever is reading this, please give your Williamsburg admin staff a raise!

On my quest to visit every single solidcore location in NYC, I found the Williamsburg location to be very conveniently located. I love that TJ is a hop and a skip away because I am always hungry for a little snack post workout. The studio space is quite large and can fit two rows of machines-- I personally like this configuration better than the long single row because it feels less prison-like. The spacing between each machine was not egregiously tight either.

I took a class here with Inger C. who seriously kicked my butt.
Her workout honestly felt like an advanced class and I learned a lot of new movements!

Marielle was a WONDERFUL instructor. It was my first Pilates group class so I was a bit intimidated/nervous but she was so patient and helpful with me. She provided demonstrations and took the time to correct my form. She provided the perfect balance of critiques and praise. Not to mention the class itself was killer! I would definitely go again. Also, the girls at the front desk were also so kind and welcoming. It made me feel more comfortable overall. It’s obviously expensive but like most reformer Pilates classes are pricey.

Just recently finished my second class and I’m obsessed. I felt that this class helped me focus on muscle groups that I’m usually not working out. It is a great addition to my current workout. I felt that the instructors are encouraging and here for your success! They don’t have a receptionist as many have mentioned in the previous reviews, so just come early/on time as you can only access the facility 10 minutes before the class!

This solidcore location in Dumbo has the BEST tasting water out of all the locations I have been to. I don't know what filter they use or what they add to the water but it's crisp and cold and I could guzzle down a whole bottle after class. The studio space is fairly sizeable, with two rows of machines. However, the lobby space is a little small and cramped so I definitely would not recommend coming here early as there is not a lot of space to sit.

The location of this particular solidcore is quite tricky to find. While the address is 20 Pine St, the entrance to the studio is located around the corner. To save some time, I would suggest walking over to Nassau/Cedar and entering Fosun Plaza. You'll be able to spot the studio entrance from there.

The FiDi location is a little smaller than the other studios I have been to thus far. The lobby and locker room area is a little cramped but they have a spacious bathroom and changing room. The studio space itself is quite nice and the machines are not too old-looking. I had a very productive class with Jacob, who is a phenomenal and knowledgable coach. Definitely recommend taking his class!

Love this location. The 30 min class is my favorite and it's a good quick burn. I have never had a bad instructor. They are all so kind and supportive. The class goes fast but don't keep up with the class, listen to your body and ensure you get the form correct. You do not want to hurt yourself.

Wear grip socks and a cute outfit and enjoy !

Still a Solidcore newbie, but the workouts (however strenuous and difficult they may be) produce results and surprisingly, lots of endorphins. I have been to their DUMBO location a few times before and while their workout studio is fairly large, the lobby and changing space is quite small. At the new Downtown Brooklyn location, the inverse appears to be true. The workout studio seems a little smaller and the lobby is much bigger.

I have taken classes with Portia and Raven so far, both of whom are absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend their classes if y'all get a chance. The studio is located around the corner from the Hoyt St (2/3) station on the new 11 Hoyt apartment complex.

With the recent Pilates craze I was excited to try out Solidcore. As a first timer you're asked to come 15 minutes ahead of time to get acquainted with the workout. You get a really quick demo of their machine, sweatlana. The machine utilizes 8 springs that add resistance. Each workout everyday hits a different part of the body. As a workout it didn't feel very beginner friendly and often times I was really lost and kept having to look to my left and right to understand. The instructor isn't demonstrating the moves so you're having to depend on the others around you. If you're new the instructor will definitely help correct your form every now and then and they were very helpful when it came to switch out my springs. There are more beginner friendly classes available but couldn't find them available at this specific studio. On that note it seems to have a steep learning curve as I discussed with other people who attended, they said it took them 10-20 classes to feel comfortable with the cues and machine. On my second class the instructor gave a lot more modifications which was super helpful. Pros - low impact but a good burn (definitely was sore) - fun group workout (high energy, loud music) Cons - expensive - depending on the level of the class no modifications to any of the movements (but maybe this exists in the beginner workouts) - no breaks built in to the workout (you have to take your own)

Solidcore -- I came, I saw, I conquered? Bareeelllyyyy but I did have an amazing time challenging my body.

I've seen and read how tough Solidcore is and have now experienced said toughness. In short, Solidcore kicked my arse. In a good way!

This particular class on March 20 -- triceps and inner thighs at 1:15pm -- was a mixed bag of beginners and advanced. I am not gonna lie I was also a bit intimidated by the reformer and mirrors. You mean to tell me, I and everyone else have a view of my imbalance and missteps?! But everything turned out fine because 1: everyone is focused on themselves and 2: Portia B makes it that EVERYONE is comfortable.

Portia knows the human body and was encouraging in her interactions with us. She acknowledged students by calling out each of our names, willing us to push through and give it all we got. She also came over and corrected forms (did that for me several times haha). One of my main takeaways is that small movements are impactful.

Yes, pilates is for the body. But I think it's more mental than anything. A good playlist helps with not focusing on the pain and Portia definitely delivered with the tunes. I needed all of the distraction I could get. I felt sore after class but accomplished.

Anyone interested should sign up for a class. It's strenuous as a beginner but I would say it is worth the challenge.

LOL id heard this would be a killer class...and it definitely was. lets just say i was sore for many days after this. Went with my boyfriend for a Saturday 5 pm class. It was very soul cycle-esque with the dark lights but i really enjoyed the music which was BLASTING; its the kind of music i need to feel like i did a workout.

it was my first time doing pilates and first time on any type of reformer. i was very nervous going in but dont be! there were many other first timers so i didnt feel like i stuck out like a sore thumb :)

Ill definitely be back but its very expensive. even with classpass it was $28 for a single class...yikes! Hoping next time i wont feel like death for two days after!

Tried this place out for the first time to switch up my workout from running and weights. They have a really strict policy on being on time. More than 5 minutes late and basically out of luck. If you go during "off peak" hours aka before the studio opens to take an early class, you'll need a code to enter at the door. Try getting there 15 ish minutes early to get a locker and get settled into a machine. No one was at the front desk so I basically had to ask a classmate where to put my things and how to check in. Eventually headed into the class to find the instructor.

She took my name and led me to a machine. The machines are close to each other. Can't imagine how cramped it might feel if the class was full. The class will definitely work some muscles you normally wouldn't and felt challenging. I would have liked a little more hands on help for a first timer, but think I kept up ok. The one hour class goes by fast and the next group is in before you get a chance to chat with the instructor or anyone else. It would have been nice to have a little more gap between classes. A 6am class is a bit tough to get to on time with trains, but nice to do early. I'd recommend going on an empty stomach. A 630am class might be better.

They have 2 single gender neutral restrooms. They have a few personal care items you may use (spray deodorant, lotion, hair ties, etc.) You'll wipe down your machine with disinfectant wipes after class. They sell water and drinks. The lockers have their own locks built in that you can set. Blue stone lane coffee is just across the street and you're a short walk to the Brooklyn bridge if you want breakfast and take a walk after. Overall an okay workout to do once in awhile, but quite expensive.

I've seen ads for this place about 100x on Instagram and since it was available on ClassPass I decided to give it a try. Everyone talks about how hard the class is and they def weren't lying. It's basically Pilates on steroids. It's a full body workout but they target certain areas depending on the schedule. Be prepared to do lots of slow, controlled movements to really feel the burn. They give you different options for each exercise depending on your level and if you need to pause and take a break you aren't shamed for it. The instructor I had (Hayley) was super sweet and walked around adjusting bodies as needed. The facility itself has free lockers and a bathroom but no actual locker room. They also give you a code to unlock the front door 15 min before class and the code stops working if you're more than 5 min late. Overall a good workout that I wouldn't mind trying again.

I absolutely love Solid Core! After being a gym rat up until the very last day before COVId lockdown, it was a big transition to go from lifting weights to exercises that focus on slow twitch muscles. The community of people here are amazing, the instructors care about you as a person, while focusing on making you a stronger version of yourself.

I have been going here loyally 4-6 times per week for a year now. I would highly recommend if you want a tough workout finished in 50 minutes.

Worth the monthly investment!

Come 10 minutes early so that you can get set-up, because class starts right on time and if you are over 10 minutes late, you are not allowed to disrupt class. Personally I prefer this so that you aren't interrupted at the beginning of the workout.

One of my favorite group fitness classes in general but this one has kinda worn out equipment. Many machines have springs with worn out rubber buffers, bands are worn out, handlebars get stuck, etc. Definitely needs some TLC from a machinery standpoint.

Instructors are GREAT, but playlists wildly differ. I'm very preferential to rap when it comes to working out and I wish I knew ahead of time what the playlists would look like.

Instructors tend to lead pretty impersonal classes which is nice but I do wish that they gave more personal callouts.

I do also have some frustrations with the monthly unlimited in terms of booking/cancellation. Because classes book up ahead of time, it's hard to know which I should sign up for because I don't know which waitlists I'll clear. Also you're limited to 1x day which seems absurd for the amount you pay.

I'm a huge fan of this Solid Core in Williamsburg. The instructors are just outstanding -- they work hard, they understand the fundamentals and science behind isokinetic muscle exercise. The classes are effective, which is surprisingly not the best that can be said about these classes and instructors

The best part is I think it's super fun -- you get the music going and the instructors are positive

Grab a protein drink right before or after.

For constructive criticism -- I wish Solid Core had options for people in lower income brackets. I don't know what this would look like, and Williamsburg's classes are already 10 dollars less than what I've seen at other Solid Core studios. You're going to need a "Veil of Ignorance," where people can respectfully request discounts, because yes it's unfair to rich people -- but rich people don't realize that it's unfair to people who can't afford a $40 class. For my money, this class is 150% worth it, but if I were broke, and I am sometimes, it's more of a stretch

Very much In their defense, Solid Core has made a commitment to Black Lives Matter and Me Too (Women's Rights) movements. So, the company does have a huge heart

My other constructive criticism is I wish Claire had more classes. She's on for two or three this season -- that's of course up to the managers and Claire herself. The instructor deserves a raise, a bonus, a promotion, and whatever else the regional managers and owners can throw at her. Smart, hardworking, knowledgeable about exercise science, funny, positive, enthusiastic, all of it. I'm not the only one, either. She fills up her classes every week. That's one badass bitch. Sorry if I'm embarrassing the teacher here.

The Fundamentals course and Beginner Courses are really helpful and important -- start with those. These classes are designed for muscle burnout. If you go on a Sunday night, you're going to be in trouble for Monday and Tuesday because of muscle soreness. Get in a Friday afternoon class or a Saturday morning class. Then get some quality sleep to rebuild all that muscle -- that's part of the science and process too.

And with that said, these classes are not for everyone because they're just intense workouts. These are sculpting and strengthening classes, and not maintenance, relaxation (read: yoga), or easy exercises. And exercise science does have much evidence supporting light workouts such as walking and yoga.

Came here on my birthday to treat myself to a cool workout. I didn't know they were open until a friend told me about it. I enjoyed it - Got my butt kicked and body ripped apart. Also one thing to note is that the entrance is on the other side of the building.

The equipment is cleaned and everyone is spaced apart. There were only 2 other girls in the class with me. Out of 16 reformers, now a "full" class is 8 and it is every other reformer. The studio is cute with motivational words around the wall.

The workout was difficult and I was shaking by the end of it. I bought the buy 1 get 1 free package because I knew I had to try it at least twice to like it. I was kind of confused during the class because the instructor doesn't do it along with you. Definitely think it's something to get used to after a couple of classes. I had a great time but I wouldn't pay $43 for one class.

That's being said - please reach to me for a referral :)

This is probably the most challenging class I've ever taken. It targets ever part of your body and it's highly recommended. I thought it was a class where you do floor exercises but you're using a pilates-like machine. Even the light resistance is tough if you're a first-timer. The instructors are super nice, patient and informative.
