[solidcore] is a high-intensity, low-impact strength training workout on a custom-built reformer machine. It utilizes slow, controlled movements to push your muscles to the point of failure in order to build back stronger.
Don't know how you can't love solidcore. We took a class at this location and it may have been one of the best classes I've taken across all locations. Ash put us through it and was such a great teacher. Would highly recommend this location if Ash is teaching! Cheers!
As a first time student, I was already super intimidated but I need to highlight how excellent & patient Neyla was with us! Our class was on a Friday afternoon but surprisingly a very small class so Neyla was able to focus & correct everyone throughout, especially us newbies. She was on top of it & made me an instant pilates fan afterwards. The studio itself is very clean & spacious too.
We booked the Signature50: Full Body through classpass but their [solidcore] app also makes it super convenient to book directly. They have an attached parking structure in the building & validate for students. Will definitely be booking more classes here again!
I was traveling and took a class here. It's a nice space, much bigger than my home studio in DC but the room was oddly shaped. I ended up with the one machine where the wall is at a slant and there isn't enough space for incline pushups on the grey platform. Other than that, it's a good studio, good coach.
Finally tried Solidcore this year to restart a fitness routine and this studio has been great. I tried a few of the starter classes to learn the equipment and exercises and all of the instructors were encouraging and helpful. Location has street parking (metered during the day) and validated garage parking for 75 minutes. I like that their schedule has late classes and more afternoon options on the weekends. I always feel like I get a good workout and definitely have gotten stronger in just a few months. Highly recommend if you're looking for a strength building workout and like Pilates!
My friend and I did a Full Body class for the first time. We never done Pilates before and I can’t say this class was easy, but our instructor Tensaye was amazing and really made the difference.
The class is pretty fast paced, but she was always around checking in, adjusting us and helping us transition from one exercise to the next. She’s amazing and we’ll definitely be going back.
My first pilates class ever and by mistake I went to a regular class (instead of beginner). It was amazing, I’m def coming back, the instructor was super sweet and helped me a lot.
Just took my first class here. Rough start. I got here 9 min early and someone was stuck at the door. The code wasn't working. I tried my code, no luck. Then another student showed up and tried calling. Nobody picked up. We knocked a bunch of times. Nothing. Then after baking outside in the sun for 10 min another student started banging on the door so hard I thought the door would break. A receptionist finally opened the door and gave me a hard time even though I never touched the door. She said "When you press the code too many times it wont work" whatever that means. The code was not working we all tried it. The class itself seemed very similar to the Lagree class I recently took. This one seemed a lot easier as far as intensity. Otherwise some of the exercises seemed identical. This studio is super dark for some reason. I personally prefer a bit more light but no big deal. The music was pretty loud, the instructor's mic was a bit muffled and clipping at times and fighting the frequencies the music was on. Slightly challenging to hear her nonstop instructions. She talked nonstop the entire class. Felt like a bit too much to me. It was sweet of her to apologize after class for the door code issue. She apologized on the mic and to us individually as well. Overall a clean studio, good equipment, solid workout. Can't go wrong. To be honest I tried this particular studio cause it's right next door to a good coffee shop, so it's convenient to grab a cold drink after class. But honestly there's another studio I liked much better, not gonna mention the name. So I probably won't be back here but try it out for yourself you might love it.
I love this solidcore location! It's pretty easy to get into the classes I want and the instructors are really friendly. They also offer hands-on correction which I appreciate. I wasn't sure what to expect because it's a chain, but was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and warm the staff is. I've taken 5 classes here now and will continue to attend at least 1x/week.
There's also a parking garage located in the same building as the studio and they offer validation which is huge.
As for the workout, solidcore is basically a mix of megaformer resistance training/cable training, light dumbbells, and Lagree. It is a fantastic workout and I'm sore every time. There's no shame in taking breaks and my form has improved a lot since I began. I do have a solid background in mat pilates and was familiar with reformer and Lagree, which definitely helped being new to solidcore. I recommend taking 1-2 of the starter 50 classes, especially if you're completely new to any form of pilates. That said, instructors offer modifications if you're new and the cable load is lighter for 0-25 classes.
TLDR: this is my favorite workout. Instructors are great, parking garage with validation is a plus. Recommend experience with Pilates or taking a Starter 50 class before a regular class. I also saw changes in my body pretty quickly.
NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN SO FCKN HUMBLED BY A WORK OUT CLASS
pros:
Validated parking
Parking structure
Great playlist
New reformers
Very supportive and helpful instructors
Cons:
Hard to find as there are no signs on the building
Validation is supposed to be for 75 minutes and I still had to pay even though I was there under 75 minutes so that's more of a parking issue and not a class issue
Not beginner, friendly - this was my first time at solid core but my second overall Pilates class. This is a great workout, but I was fucking dying the entire time lol the last issue I have with this class is the microphone the instructor using sometimes muffled her words which made it hard to understand her direction, but other than that this was a great class, I will be back after I build up my endurance and fitness level. Lol
I've gone to the other Solidcore locations in LA and this one is one of my favorites! Kriz was the coach and did a fantastic job pushing me to my limits! I left feeling AMAZING (like a runners high) and will definitely be back. Such good bang for your buck- 50min workout that is equivalent to a 2 hour workout
Nice, clean studio in the new West Edge building. Parking is validated for 75 minutes, which is a perfect amount of time given that classes are 50 minutes long.
My girlfriends workout here often and I've done close to 10 classes I believe. Amazing workout and even more amazing instructors! The energy is beyond amazing and the empowerment while getting through this hard workout is what all workout classes should be like. 10/10 recommend.
I just did pilates for my first tim at the WeHo location. Caitlin was so great, and encouraging. Josh was also amazing I really appreciated his kindness and warmth! Definitely gotta come back soon.
My first time was 2 weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE this place so far. The workout and instructors are amazing and parking at the Ava apartment complex is validated. They just earned their newest member! ☺️🙌🏾
Brand new studio! Super clean, new machines, and great staff and instructors. Also there is validated parking in the garage next door - bring your ticket and solidcore will validate it for 75 minutes
Jacob was absolutely amazing! The experience as a first timer was incredibly welcoming. Jacob was energetic, friendly, and took time to thoroughly explain the machine and workout prior to class. The class itself was a challenging workout, but Jacob still managed to make it fun!
