I signed up for the foundations class thinking it'd be chiller than the signature 50 class BUT no! It's still the same pace and exercises, just with more light and not as loud music. Not sure if people don't want to take the 'easier' foundations classes or because the class was in the middle of the day, but barely anyone else signed up for the class so you add the full attention from the coach. Coach Peter was PUSHING us. This was the hardest I've worked in my dozen solidcore classes cause I knew he was watching. Thanks coach 😮‍💨

I hate working out - like truly hate it to the point where I have to lie and trick myself to go to the gym/workout/etc. I was really nervous about taking my first Solidcore class at Ballard (especially after all the stories I've heard), but I had such an amazing experience at the Solidcore in Ballard, especially with my coach Zora!! Usually, I check my watch every 5 min to see when my class will be over, but Zora made the class so engaging, accessible, and fun, the 50 mins were up before I knew it. Coach Zora knew that this was one of my first classes at Solidcore, and I really appreciated how she took note of that and often came by to help me with my form, spring changes, etc. It was a hard and challenging class, but still really fun. I definitely understand why people become obsessed. I'm super excited for my next class and can't wait to take more - for anyone who's wondering if they should do it, I say you should just go for it and try it at least once - you'll never know until you try!

There were only three other people in my class, which made for more attention from the coach. There was no escape which sounds intimidating at first, but made for my best class yet. I was even able to do the twisted oblique crunch on my feet and hands for the first time, instead of my usual knee and elbows! Thanks for the push, Coach Joe 💪

I love solidcore. I have been doing reformer pilates for several years and solidcore takes it to the next level. What I love about it: the coaches are all friendly, knowledgable, considerate of any injuries, and really work to build a sense of community. I also love a challenging and intense workout, I like having muscle shakes, and I like being sore the next day. I sleep like a rock if I've gone to a solidcore class that day. Personally, I love the dim lights and loud music! It's also fun noticing the coaches' different tastes in music. (I beg one of you to please have a CharliXCX Brat-themed class!) This type of workout is not for everyone; it's very challenging, the lights are dim, the music is loud, and the coaches will be giving thorough instructions and words of encouragement throughout the entire class. Even as a reformer veteran, my first class at solidcore was a bit overwhelming because I didn't start with an intro class. If it's your first time, I HIGHLY recommend going to an intro class. It's slower-paced, you are taught the basics, and you're with other beginners. After a few classes, the instructions become 2nd nature and meditative, and if you zone out, no worries because the coaches will always repeat the instructions. There is also a door code (I appreciate this security measure) and you will be emailed the code the day before class and is available in the app. These same instructions are available via classpass if you're using classpass. The sticker shock may deter some people but their membership pricing is comparable to other pilates gyms I've been a member of. I don't love some of the membership stipulations, like if you want to upgrade or downgrade a committed membership, it restarts your contract, which I don't think is a very flexible policy and is an icky practice to keep people locked into a perpetual membership. I don't blame the individual gyms or its coaches for a predatory corporate policy, but it's disappointing that this company would participate in some of the schemes many gyms tend to implement to get as much money as they can out of people who work hard to afford their memberships. For a company that touts its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, they don't seem to be doing anything to challenge the gender wage gap or pink tax by participating in predatory practices that target their predominantly female clientele. I hope this is a practice the company will consider changing in the future; I think it would benefit them in the long run by continuing to cultivate and environment of care and community that their coaches who keep them in business work so hard to build.

Wow - I took Jordi’s coach-in-training class this morning and it was absolutely incredible. I would never have guessed she was in training. She was motivating and calm, while also being super encouraging. She helped me stay in the work way longer than I would have otherwise. Her knowledge of the body, her music, and her general demeanor made the class next level. Will definitely be looking forward to having her on the schedule!

I tried skipping the review three times but the system wouldn’t let me. I went to Matty’s class. I didn’t have a great experience because he talks so fast that I had no clue what was going on, though I was able to follow the people next to me. Was overall still a great workout.

I originally bought a new customer four-class pack to try out this workout because I had heard pilates-type workouts are good for hypermobility. I discovered that to be true and got so much more out of it! As a slightly chubby and not-all-that-fit newbie, I have found the coaches for the Starter50 classes to be friendly, kind, and helpful. They are great about explaining the machine, modifications, and correcting form. I am visibly trans and queer and I was never treated any differently. Genuinely, I have never had better coaches for an exercise class. Even better, the workout has been quite effective in tandem with the dietary changes I had already made. After just four classes over three weeks, I am already noticing my strength increase and my body composition changing. I really enjoy the challenge of the classes and the endorphins afterward are unmatched. I am hooked!

Michelle is a great instructor. The studio doesn't have any changing rooms and the lockers are facing a heavily trafficked street with no window coverings. If you need to change you have to go in the bathroom. The whole situation is a little uncomfortable.

Wow, what an insanely good and intense workout. I do a lot of strength training, pilates, barre, hiit, and swimming, and this was probably the best workout I've done. It's definitely my preference over Orange Theory. But, as a note, it requires a lot of balance and doesn't have traditional cardio (although my heart rate hit 170).

My daughter and I went here twice on our Seattle trip. The first day, the instructor was upbeat, helpful, friendly. He was nonstop demonstrating movements, walking around, correcting our form. I couldn't slack because he was paying serious attention to everyone. Facilities were clean. Class was fun. Second class was good but not as challenging or fun. It wasn't bad, just not as fun as the first class. i deducted one star for Solidcore's annoying door code system. The first day, the instructor was iin the lobby area and let us in. He explained the check-in system, door code, etc. The second day, the door code didn't work, and there was no one visible to let us in. We didn't wait too long; so it wasn't a big deal. just very annoying. (I couldn't get into the Fidi solidcore in New York because of the stupid door code either so this seems to be a common occurrence. And before you say it's user error, there was another girl there with us who also couldn't unlock the door Lol) I understand the doors are locked for security. it would be nice if they at least installed a doorbell.

I have been going to classes for a little over a month now, and could not recommend solidcore more!! I have seen massive improvements in my physical strength, especially in my core and lower body (much more than any workout classes I have tried before!). Decided to try Solidcore while I was visiting Seattle. Yesterday I took a class with Zahra and this morning I took a class with Camille. Really loved the workout and both instructors were great! The location is also super convenient if you're in the city. Only problem was that they don't have any towels and I was a sweaty mess.
