Smart Energy exceeded my expectations from the point of sale with Nathan Lynons who went through the application process, the Federal Govt Solar Battery Rebate Scheme, his assessment of my solar needs at my property was a 5 star experience. Lily at Smart Energy was so helpful when l raised a couple of concerns regarding approval with Energex. She completely put me at ease and advised that Smart Energy was attending to Energex. The installers Max Cavanno, Dexter and another guy did a fantastic job installing the new solar panels and the Alpha ESS battery. Great Service - on multiple occasions
Mac, Kane and Jordan have been fantastic. With their assistance we have had solar panels installed, and then a solar battery added, then converted our gas hot water to electric and have just signed up to get our gas heating changed over to an electric split system and a charging station put in for my electric car. Every time we have worked with them, they have been clear and open about costs and the products we have been getting with absolutely no pressure. They have made getting work done so easy. We just have a chat, sort out the financing and then trades turn up and do the work. On the rare occasion there is an issue, they have been resolved very quickly.

Givenergy AIO and Gateway was installed within 3 weeks and has run up to spec for close to 2 years now. Connectivity to app issues were solved after contacting Melbourne office. Gateway control means we do not have blackouts and can control exactly how we want the battery to perform. Highly recommended.

The battery has resulted in lower electricity prices. The system has been running without problems for over a year now. Bao Minh Duong did an excellent job throughout the entire project.

From the moment I answered the phone my experience with Smart Energy was excellent. Super friendly Australian staff to speak to that were very knowledgeable and professional while maintaining a very friendly atmosphere, I never once felt “pushed into” a sale as is often the case with receiving cold calls from call centres. Jack went above and beyond in securing my finance when I couldn’t use their regular finance company due to not having a drivers licence or passport (Plenti are absolute legends to deal with !) and my whole experience from the first call until the completion of installation was absolutely hassle free for me, I only needed to sign my end of the paperwork and be home to answer the door on installation date. The installation team were friendly and efficient and communication was great. I can’t recommend the team from Smart Energy highly enough and am now in contact with them to install solar hot water.

I've been with Smart Energy for 3 years now. Only time I've had an issue is when there was a power outage and had to reset my Smart Energy box. Customer service was 10 out of 10. Quick to answer and easy to understand their instructions.

Very happy with solar installation by smart energy. Jack, the initial representative explained the process explicitly, the installation team were extremely competent, friendly and cleaned up. The combination of solar cells and battery have been beneficial, by decreasing the electricity bill substantially. Congratulations to a locally based company supplying a very efficient system (up to 80% electricity self sufficiency), I feel we are now contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle.
How Solar Should Be
Everyone we spoke to at Smart Energy were so great to deal with. They put together a comprehensive report and proposal for our system which has been operating efficiently over the past 6 months since installation. We had put off solar for so long because of poor reviews of retailers but Smart Energy have been established for many years, sell reputable-brand products, and their partnership with Rheem further assured us of their credibility. They employed a local contractor from our town for the installation whose team were really wonderful too, respectful, did a good job, cleaned up after themselves, and generally just great guys. The solar/battery system has saved us so much on our bills, the SmartEnergy team also gave some recommendations for service providers one of which we switched over to and our bills are now less than half of what they were. We'd been so reluctantto get solar because of all the negative articles of bad actors in the industry but I really can't recommend Smart Energy enough; the process was everything it should be.

The installation team - plumber and electricians were friendly and again, answered any questions I had. Were also quick and efficient with installations. Our decision to convert to Solar was in the back of our mind. A young man approached me while gardening took a seat on the ground and the conversation began. We decided it couldn’t hurt to organise a Smart Energy representative (Aaron), so we did. He had done some background on our roof situation so when he arrived he had all the information we needed. How many panels, the right positioning and the breakdown of how Solar worked. I was sick of paying someone else for our power, when we can generate our own. We decided to purchase a battery . Which I’m more and more happy about and I’m so glad we decided to go ahead sooner rather than later. After talking with Smart Energy we decided to go ahead. We know we are in good hands and how Solar can only improve on our energy needs and costs. We have opted to be apart of own solution (with Smart Energy)taking control of our energy and our costs. Installation was seamless, professional on time and impressive. Smart Energy also processed a rebate for us so we got some money to pay towards it. My consultant Jack was very helpful and understanding of my situation. Let me call and text him any time when I had questions which was super helpful. If he didn't know an answer, he would find out for me. The Electrician Tuan and the 3 installers were efficient, and very respectful of my home, cleaning up all their mess and taking all their rubbish. The only downside was I got the solar battery installed a week after the rebate took place. Neither he nor I was aware of this until after the rebate date. This was a potential $2,400 in rebate so you can only imagine how disheartening it was, especially these days with the cost of living rising.

Had a great intro to Smart Energy from Aaron Russell who took us through all the pros and cons of batteries and future proofing our home. Aaron being an engineer himself answered all our questions with honesty and knowledge. If he didn't know something he rang the company and asked them. In this case it was a financial question. The installers were very efficient and did a fantastic job under a bit of duress because the house is old and not as straight and level as it could be. The only negative is the cost (we could have had the same capacity system installed for half the price)but we still decided to go with Smart Energy because of the quality of the product and the fact it was a painless experience and everything was basically done for us. Contact with the customer service has been efficient so far also. Happy with everything at present.
The sales process was excellent. Bradley was excellent in his approach and method of explaining the way it worked and how Amber then worked to provide wholesale rates. From when Blake knocked on my door, then meeting TJ to go through the purchase then Coenraad completing the installation this has been a positive experience. TJ and Blake were courteous and knowledgeable, did not pressure me to purchase and were respectful of my situation. The installation by G7 Electrical went smoothly and was completed in a few hours. The cost was reasonable value for money although I do believe that when retailers got wind of the impending rebate that prices went up a bit but that does happen when the government gives out incentives. The battery unit and inverter are top class even though Alpha-ess didn't feature in the reviews of the top systems. The app gives you all the information you need to keep a track of your savings. Customer service and follow up communication has been brilliant, Smart Energy has been with me all the way but best not to call around lunch time?. I am using virtually no electricity from the grid, the battery is providing my peak time usage and Iam getting good feed in so I cannot wait to see what my charges will be down the track. A good decision, a great supplier and installer, couldn't be happier. Thank you.

Jack Bishop was the sales guy I delt with, as would be expected he did an excellent job of holding my hand through to the installation. Now the install team tried to use some thinner gauge wiring but my son had an ac unit turned on, which burnt out the wiring whenever they powered it up. They switched to a heavier gauge wire and the system appears to be working fine. Note, the back of the house where the battery is located is a bit on the muddy side and the guys didn't whinge about that so they get stars for that. Now I am dealing with customer service so I can be confident I am using the system the way it was designed to be used and they seem approachable so all appears excellent. David Dillon

Edit: Smart Energy contacted me promptly, and are in the process of resolving my issue. Credit where credit is due, I feel they have listened and are taking action. My solar battery stopped working. Contacted Smart Energy and Redback Technologies. After a month of not working it's still not fixed. I'm paying $17,000 for something that is not even working. Realise I'm waiting on the installer (who has not contacted me). Very very disappointed. Have missed 1 month of summer sun charging my battery.

Rob and Sherri were helpful, courteous and professional. We have an issue with shade from neighbour trees and previous solar companies even refused to come out and look. Rob and Cheri came and looked at our house, ran the numbers and estimated that we could achieve 20kw per day out of a 6.5kw system. Only 6.1kw of panels would fit on the side of the roof chosen for the install so we went with the lesser size. So far during summer we have seen daily power generation of between 15kw and 40kw from this 6.1kw system which is better than expected.

I could not rate Smart Energy any less than outstanding! I have been seeking solar for a few years and became tired of misleading and confusing advice from other companies. Smart Energy staff members listened carefully to our needs, responded quickly with information and advice and, proposed a very easy to understand plan for our home. The initial consultant Ziah was very friendly and understanding and had all the information necessary within 24 hours including a site plan, installation options, and a quick and easy interest free payment plan. He had made contact with our current energy supplier and had easy to follow changeover information. Excellent service! The installation was brilliant! Chris confirmingly explained the process and even when there were small glinches, he informed us after he had sorted the problem. They stayed onsite during tricky weather until the job was finished same day. The follow up service to ensure we could access the solar app and to make sure we were happy was also fantastic. I did a lot of homework on solar providers/installers before I spoke to anyone. I saw the $3k systems offered on social media and laughed. I saw the Google bought positions for $6k systems (panels only). Not one had a realistic, quality 1st Tier panels, with quality components through the install, from the panel, to the inverter, to the screws holding it all to my roof. Then there is the service. I was lucky to meet and sort the first part of my equation (solar panels) and a later view to add storage, when it was more affordable and the tech suitable. A no nonsense discussion on the capabilities of the system to be installed. No ridiculous statements that I’d be making $100’s each quarter. Just the satisfaction I had the best solar panels on the market, Q-Cells. Initially my power bills were reduced by a decent amount. Then what was part 1b, get rid of electric storage HWS. It blew up earlier this year, so an LPG bottle system was installed. So now hot water and cook top gas. The biggest users of power? Oven, and one air cond (older window type, being replaced soon). The main air conditioner is an Inverter. The new Fridge (old one blew up 2 years ago) now an Inverter. Clothes dryer (I have mobility issues), Inverter, it uses 1/4 of the power the washer does! So 2 years down the track, I have finally gotten power consumption down. My last power bill (winter) ~$170 for the quarter. With no power hungry electric HWS, I expect this summer to have me possibly reach equality ($0) or near enough, maybe even they paying me. This is 2 and a bit years in. smart Energy Group, and especially Nathan are an honest, up front, professional supplier/installer of solar systems that are simply quality. My panels have a 25 year PERFORMANCE guarantee. No-one else can offer that. Better still, Smart Energy Group are STILL HERE coming on 3 years. Same phone numbers, same location, same web address. Send an sms, you WILL get a response in a timely manner. Quite honestly, Smart Energy Group are NOT a fly by night and disappearing solar company like some. They are here for the long haul. Proven by my sending an SMS and 4 days later, I recieve a call back. Said it wasn’t urgent, so all great. Got a rough quote for Part 2, storage, exactly what I want, how I want it, and at a great price. Yeah I will be buying my solar battery from Smart Energy Group, and will never look back with concern. This is a 100% trustworthy, honest, reliable company that is here to help you today and will still be here to help you in a decade.
- Door knock guy was polite and to the point - FAB - Quote guy (James Grant) - Not your typical sales rep!! - polite, to the point, down to earth and logical - FAB. - Install team were great, left no mess and showed me how to use the phone App and the system. - Got constant updates via email and text with each step, although some of them were not in sync with the timeline as steps had already been completed and system turned on - just used common sense to know I didn't need to do anything.

Quoting process was extensive although in hindsight I doubt that that the savings anticipated will be as much as indicated but time will tell. The installation was carried out efficiently, the installers cleaned up and left nothing out of place. The system was explained to me, an app was set up on my phone so I can monitor the performance remotely and it was connected to the grid and operating before the team left. I have been contacted by Smart Energy on several occasions to ensure that the system is working properly and I am satisfied.
A few hiccups with actual set up, but Russell was brilliant and sorted everything out for us, so very happy with the end result.

The quality is definitely better than our old system I guessed it must install with cheaper materials from previous owner of my house. However, the price is higher than other installers with the same brand panels and brand inverter as I got a lot of advertisements in Facebook from different companies which they showed how much the system installed with specific inverter and panels. I was not sure it is 100% satisfaction so I gave 4 stars. 1 missing star may for my double thought. As I did not get any other quotes from other companies prior to my contract of installation.

I have 22 panels with Smart Energy, I'm paying them off so may work out a bit dearer, but I was happy with their service etc. Did wonder if 22 panels are too many for 2 people though, our bill used to be over $400. Now sometimes less than $200. So thats pretty good so far.

Solar power fitted to my home was always an intention but last year, the more I enquired, the more confused I became. So I left it alone until January when I had a call out of the blue from Smart Energy Group. I just had a good feeling. From that first phone call, a representative called in to my home to discuss options tailored just for my needs. The plan was great, the best quality products ; there was no pressure, no running down opposition ; just facts and figures on predicted savings laid out in front of me. What I had envisaged to be a 15 minute presentation ended up to be about 3 hours and the representative left with a sale. My solar system was fitted promptly and efficiently by a company I have now utilised and recommended highly. Since my February install, the results have been awesome. No regrets. One of the best things I have ever done.

My one and only problem is with my Electricity Provider AGL in them getting off their butts and connecting the service. No Idea as to when that is going to happen. After having another system installed 7 years ago and having it breakdown just out of warranty, the price to have it repaired was the price of one of the cheap small systems, so we opted for a larger higher quality system which is backed by a larger warranty. Our experience with Smart Energy Solar was very Good. From the Salesman Declan, who was patient and clearly informative, to the Installer, who called to our home on the Friday to have a look at the roof and confirm he would be installing on Monday. He was there early and worked quietly, completed the installation, cleaned up, and showed us the Inverter box. And was done in a day. We received telephone calls from the office on updates regarding the contract and when the Installer would call. Most importantly, their Pricing was excellent in comparison to the many others we had got quotes from.

Edit: Smart Energy contacted me promptly, and are in the process of resolving my issue. Credit where credit is due, I feel they have listened and are taking action. My solar battery stopped working. Contacted Smart Energy and Redback Technologies. After a month of not working it's still not fixed. I'm paying $17,000 for something that is not even working. Realise I'm waiting on the installer (who has not contacted me). Very very disappointed. Have missed 1 month of summer sun charging my battery.
The service from the first call to installation and post service has been wonderful. Ben sold me on the system and then Alexandra was brilliant in coordinating the best plan for my home. The local installer team were really great, professional and tidied up once done.. I recommend Smart Energy to anyone.
