Specialist Freddie Marlow told me everything I needed to know about a battery to go with my solar system. Best of all, he did not try to sell me anything I did not need (which another company did). The installation was prompt, and looks very tidy. The app keeps me informed of all the statistics of the system (power consumed, power generated, amount of battery power used, power exported to the grid, etc). Overall, I am happy with my investment, and look forward to minimal electricity bills going forward.

I have used smart energy as my battery provider and have been impressed with their overall service from start to finish. In particular communication has been timely, clear and questions have been answered comprehensively. Isaac was informative, helpful and accommodating. The Northern Rivers installation team were professional, skilled and efficient and carefully stepped me through the process including the online app. I valued the support provided, I've learnt a lot about solar and batteries and feel confident to refer back to smart energy should I have further queries.

From the beginning of the process of simply enquiring about my available options for installing a new solar system at my home, to the end with the actual installation, loan application and more, I was fully supported by Zadkiel Karam who was astounding in the way he took me through every step, answering all my questions, and making every step super clear and transparent. I very much enjoyed Zadkiel's respectful and non-imposing way of engaging with me, never forcing the sale, but providing me instead with all the information I needed to arrive at my own decision. I am a few weeks into having had 10kw of EssAlpha batteries installed at my home in Coffs Harbour. I would not have done this but for the time and effort put in by their representative Daniel Pannel. I was cold canvassed at first by I presume a backpacker who asked if I had considered a battery. I said yes and Daniel came to my home and spent a long time examining our power bills, told me of the interest free loan from the Federal Government, $12,000 repayable at $100 a month for ten years. He explained that the savings in power bills would effectively cover the repayment and because he was trustworthy, my wife and I went ahead. We have the loan and the batteries, which were expertly installend by Smart Energy's technician and it is working very well, in fact we are not only covering our own needs but exporting a lot of free energy to the grid. In future, given the overflow, I might consider on of the VPS (Virtual Power Supply Schemes) where an energy provider will pay for us to allow them to dip into our reservoir of power to augment the grid. So well done Daniel and Smart Engery.

All areas of service were AAA from communication with customer service to installation and after-sales service. The installer was meticulous and took the time to explain the system and features of the app, there was help to find the best electricity plan and best of all - no pushy salespeople!! I can see the return on investment via the app that the system has already started to pay for itself. Very pleased!!

The installation went very well, the team doing it were great, and despite complications with our awkward roof set-up, they did a wonderful job. 13 panels with 10 kW Alpha Es battery.
All my dealings with Smart Energy have been clear and efficient. Tradesman were very good. They arrived on time and completed the work efficiently. The whole system (Rinnai heat pump hot water and Alpha ESS home battery) were installed, set up and connected to the app before they left. A couple of phone calls after to make sure it was all working. I would recommend the process and staff to others.
Really happy with my experience with Smart Energy from start to finish. The sales representative Nick was friendly, easy to deal with and took the time to explain everything clearly without making me feel pressured. I appreciated being able to ask questions and get straightforward answers before making a decision. The set-up process was pretty simple, and everything happened within the timeframe I was given. The installation team was professional, polite and respectful of the property. The panels were installed quickly and the whole process was much easier than I expected. Since having the solar system installed, it has been working reliably and I haven’t had any issues. It’s been great seeing the system working and helping reduce our electricity costs. I’ve also been pleased with the customer service after installation. A special shout out to Grace who spent time going through the app and explaining how it works. Whenever I’ve had a question, the team has been helpful and responsive, which has given me confidence that I can get support if I need it. Overall, it’s been a really positive experience with Smart Energy. Everyone I’ve dealt with, from the sales representative to the installation team and after-sales support, has been friendly and professional. From the very first knock at the door by the Smart Energy rep I was impressed. Later that day Connor came and explained very clearly how a battery being installed would work for us. So much so that I decided to sign up there and then. A installation date and time was set for one and half weeks time. We already had a 6.6kw solar system which this 10kw battery matches well with. The day before the installation Sebastian dropped by to check the site of installation. Both on time and was a pleasant young man. Brandon arrived on time and too was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. He then showed me how to use the app to see what our whole system was doing. It's so clear, accurate and I must say, I am a little obsessed with checking the app to see how we're doing power wise. Many days we are 95-98% totally self sufficient with the worst I think was 79% and that was in winter with 2 split a/c systems cranked up for hours on a cloudy day. Seeing the Origin bill over the next 3 months and beyond will be very interesting. John, the company owner came by for a while helping out too. Once again, a great bloke. I cannot speak more highly of the whole Smart Energy process. Even after the installation was completed I was contacted to see how everything went. Also Smart Energy put me in touch with a rep from Origin energy to change our plan to better suit our new solar/battery system wh8ch also was an easy process. Cheers to Smart Energy

I had an ESS battery installed by Smart Energy in April (2026). The install was completed in one day and the battery has been working as intended ever since by carrying most of the load during the 'shoulder' periods. It has been a worthwhile addition to the previously installed solar panels. The ESS battery receives good ratings and I am pleased that this is the battery Smart Energy has provided. Thank you.

I have had my solar amd battery system for around three years now. The original installation was very efficiently and professionally conducted and the service has operated flawlessly since installation. Ever since installation I have enjoyed very significant reduction in my electricity bills, at least a halving of my bills. I could save more money if I was more diligent shifting load to more sunny times of the day!! 🙂 I have recently shifted to heart pump hot water and hydronic heating to take advantage of cheap solar power. Off peak electric hot water had become the most expensive part of my electricity bill (apart from poles and wires!!) The heat pump driven heating has allowed us to move away from gas heating and enjoy a beautiful warmth throughout the house.

I have managed to get my monthly power bills down to about $75 (power only about $25, rest are network charges etc). In hindsight I wish I had put a bigger battery in at the time. After speaking with the consultant and going through figures, it was a no brainer. Our current electricity account was still quite large even though we had panels. A very positive affirming experience from the first introduction by Asher, and then a deeper exposure to all the plusses and minuses with regard to acquiring and entering this solar battery adventure. Full marks to their staff. There was absolutely no pressure or discomfort, from beginning the the eventual installation. No question seemed unimportant, or was dismissed. We have a 20kWh unit installed last week, and given 2 weeks prior time. So far everything has been working perfectly.

After a preliminary investigation, we selected Smart Energy as our home battery provider because of their experience. We were provided with clear information from salesman Dean Wall. We were able to confidently choose the battery most suitable to our needs. Our installer was Derek Day who took just four hours to to complete and check the job. I had the hot water heat pump installed approximately 3 months ago and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made. We had hot water all through winter and never let us down. The installation was quick and easy replacing the old gas system within 2 hours, I would recommend Smart Energy for sure.

A well-organised and quality product.
We had long wanted to install rooftop solar power, but were wary of cheap deals using seccond rate panels. The representative from Smart Energy gave us all the information we needed in a non-pushy way, and convinced us that this is a quality, well-supported product. All phases of the process were clearly explained, and it was clear that all the staff involved were highly competent. Even allowing for delays to installation caused by windy weather, the whole process took only a matter of weeks. Our power costs have fallen to a little over a dollar a day, and the supply has been very reliable. Overall, we've found Smart Energy good to deal with, from sales to installation, and follow-up service too.

The Best Clayton's Sale ever - Buying without feeling like you're being sold to!
Firstly I'd like to give a shout out to the Door knocking appointment setter Rahim. I was not at home when he was doing his rounds, but he saw me arrive home & came back to introduce himself & chat with me about Solar. He saw we already had panels & asked if we had a battery. I advised no, that we were suggested to wait a few years before buying a battery, so Rahim asked if were interested in being contacted about purchasing a battery. Obviously I said yes. I think it was a week or so later we had the hilarious pleasure of meeting Harry - Prince Harry as he would jokingly say. We had sooo many laughs, learnt more about wholesale power in that night than I thought I'd ever understand & it was definitely a No Brainer to say Yes to purchasing a Solar Battery. It's been 3.5 days & whilst I'm yet to learn how to read the pictures below, I can see the battery is working well, even in the storms we have had this past week here in Ipswich QLD.

First the solar panels were installed. Professional, knowledgeable and courteous installers. Arrived on time and they did an excellent job. My electricity bills went into CREDIT within the first quarter. I decided then that I would want to safeguard myself during power outages, which in this part of the world are frequent. Battery and inverted installed. Again - installation went very smoothly, communication between the office - Olivia Platt and others was always efficient, and professional. The installer and electrician arrived on time. Their attitude was meticulous and professional. I was then given a run down on the performance of the equipment and how to access my on-line account. I could not be happier. The battery is charging quickly, it supplies me with electricity at night to run the heat pump, the lights and the power. Solar panels take over in the morning and ALL THE EXCESS energy produced goes BACK into the grid - for my benefit.

Our Solar was installed just 3 days ago and it’s been very cloudy and raining ever since. Therefore, we could not see any benefit so far. Hopefully, in the next week or so we will see more sunshine. We are happy with the way the installation went the team of 4 tradies were very professional and they seem to know what they’re doing. Corey, the electrician, was so helpful and patient about explaining to us how the system works. He even helped me with the apps and how to go about it. Julia, the sales rep and assessor was also very professional and explained to us how it will save us money in the future for our energy bill. So far, we are fully aware that it will probably take us 6-7 years to recoup the money we spent on the system. We hope we are still here to see this happens.

The fellow’s name was James Grant. It was a refreshing change to have someone who was able to answer all of our questions in a simple manner. He was an engineer and not the typical salesman. There was no set presentation. It was all about what we needed to know. There was no ‘hard sell’. James was very polite and punctual.

My solar panels were installed quite efficiently by the Smart Energy team and completed on the 1st of April. It has only today, 7th July, been connected to the grid. That took 3 months and 5 days for the new meter to be installed, by Tasmania's Aurora energy!! Very stressfull. They came 3 weeks ago and complained that my meter box was dirty with asbestos drillings and told me to get back to Smart Energy and get them to clean it up. They refused to come so I ended up cleaning it. Not a big deal really. So back on the waiting list but only had to wait a week this time.

We had our solar installed by smart energy a fee years ago now, sales team was informative but not pushy. Install team was friendly and prompt and kept us in the loop along the way. After sales support was great. The fact they offer Certigy/Humm payment plan was very helpful rather than having to fork out a lump sum, our system repayments are the same as what we were paying for our bills anyway. We average 12kw or daily use and now make between 125 and 250 credit 3 qtrs of the year and pay a 40$ bill in winter. I think that's the most important part people need to read about there solar install :) 6kw system with 24 solars panels 12 eastward 12 westward.

We had 22 Solar panels installed on May 2nd and are very pleased with the result. Smart Energy Group were easy to deal with and followed up the work with queries of our satisfaction.. The Installers were great, doing the job in the allocated time, minimal fuss to us ;and were very pleasant and courteous while on our property. The original consultant who explained the system and benefits, etc. was also great to deal with and answered all our questions fully and competently. Overall we are very satisfied customers.

Perfect service all round so far. We are just awaiting activation but everything from sale right through to install has been great so far. The salesperson that visited our house twice was great, informative and not pushy. Every date/time that had been committed to for actions after the sale where met and the install guys turned up on time, did their job professionally, cleaned up after themselves and had it all up and running quickly.

I found them very helpfull, we made a time for a consultant to come over to my house that suited me. Then claudia come round went through my electricity bill, by doing this we found out that I would be better off with solar. I've been looking for solar for a while now and smart energy were the only company that took time to go through everything. I found claudia to be kind, thoughtful,professional and honest. Without her going through everything I might be still looking for a solar company. I would recommend any one to give them a go
I have had nothing but trouble with my system and this company has very poor customer service. I have paid a lot of money for the solar panels and the battery and my electricity still keeps drawing from the grid not the battery. I have requested this to be fixed on numerous occasions but Smart Energy has not fixed the problem. One very expensive and unrewarding experience.
After feeling somewhat relieved thinking my issues with my battery were going to be resolved, they haven't. I have waited now 6 weeks for my battery to be fixed and my next step will be to go to the Ombudsman as we feel we just want this resolved. I'm at the point where I'd rather they just uninstalled it and gave us our money back.
Kerry did a wonderful job in setting up the project and then the team who came Don and co were awesome. This was the second company we used for solar and overall our experience has been better.
We cant rate the product as it is yet to be installed. Nevertheless, we felt compelled to make comment about the very professional sales consultant for Smart Energy. The fellows name was James Grant. It was a refreshing change to have someone who was able to answer all of our questions in a simple manner. He was an engineer and not the typical salesman. There was no set presentation. It was all about what we needed to know. There was no hard sell. James was very polite and punctual.
