I just had my first appointment with Dermatologist Doctor Kumar Nadham at the California Skin Institute in Monterey Ca. There offices were on a side road from Hwy 68 , real easy to find. I filled out new patients forms on a iPad … Also a breeze… Waited in the side room for about 7 minutes until my name was called … Great lady Assistant took me to the Medical Examiners Room and she put me at ease with choices of dress or gown I could do. Doctor came when I was ready and actually talked to me! I told him where my trouble spots were and he proceeded with the examination. Right after he gave me choices of treatment… Very Clear . He was able to treat my most concerned area on my back! Looked me over briefly again and said I was doing great. I got a prescription and we exchanged courtesy’s … We were all three Happy to meet… Best Doctors appointment ever!

I've had two Mohs surgeries at CA Skin - both at the Monterey location and have been extremely happy with the outcome of both surgeries. The medical staff are all responsive and helpful and the surgeons are top shelf. And yes, like a few reviews mention, the furniture is dated and a few pieces worn. It is a large medical group with locations throughout California and I'm sure at some point they'll remodel. I suspect it is out of the hands of the local team. But I'm putting my welfare and serious medical care in their hands and I can't recommend them highly enough! Mohs surgeries cut deep ;) - and even a small spot can require a significant excision. I've put aside my vanity to share a few photos. I had a small spot on my upper cheek removed late spring and a similar sized spot removed on my forehead in late December. Both surgeries resulted in excisions that were larger than a nickel. You'll note the small white cross shape scar has healed nicely. The photo of my forehead was before the surgery, right after the surgery and two months after the procedure. The skill of Dr. Crispin and her team resulted in removal of the skin cancer and I feel a minimal scar. Be prepared when you walk out - the Mohs does leave you with a significant set of sutures. Dr. Crispin is well credentialed and was thorough in explaining and preparing me. She and her staff are personable and caring. The results of the surgery was outstanding. Dr Crispin and her team did an excellent job before, during and after. With a pathology lab on site, both Mohs surgeries went much faster than they prepare you for. I'm somewhat of a skin cancer connoisseur - an earlier life in the Alabama sun as a landscape contractor has me going in for screenings every three to six months and I've had experiences with six surgeons. Dr. Crispin is the best to date. We often have to travel outside the Monterey Peninsula for top shelf medical care. We are lucky to have Dr. Crispin here in Monterey.

This is an update to my previous posting. I had basal cell carcinoma removed via mohs microsurgery by Dr Crispin almost two years ago. Everything went well, and this recent visit involved a recommended six- month skin exam since that can recur once you get it once. This time I had to see Dr Sils since now Dr Crispin is solely doing such surgeries. His exam was more thorough, probably because he has more time to do so. I was somewhat confused by my interaction with the staff. As noted as other reviews, my voice mail message was not returned, and all I was attempting to do was learn my appt time since the time I wrote on my note two months ago differed by 45 mins from that provided as a reminder text. I was forced to call the office the appt day to gain this info. I was also not informed I had to complete an electronic tablet with all kinds of info concerning my health status that did not involve dermatology that required over 30 minutes to complete, including my medication and dosage for issues external to dermatology that I had to make my best estimate. All in all, I would give the doctors an A+, but because of the above recent visit issued, at best I would give the staff a C.

Dr Hambly was prepared and ready fo the consultation on a basil cell carcinoma on my nose. After he thoroughly examined the area in my nose he offered three alternatives: 1) moh surgery; 2) moh followed by plastic surgery; and radiation treatments. We discussed the pros and cons of each, and due to the small size we came to the conclusion of the radiation. He offered a referral the local radiation treatment team and he requested we call with their response and the pluses/minuses of the results. My wife and I were very impressed with his knowledge and skills in this process!

I was very well treated by the staff at CA Skin Institute, from receptionist to assistant to dermatologist. I don't remember names, but everyone was friendly, helpful and caring. The dermatologist explained his assessment clearly and what my options were. Once I told him preference, he and his assistant worked quickly and efficiently to get tissue from the bump on my nose for a biopsy. The assistant followed up and gave very clear instructions on what to do in the next two weeks and provided me with bandages and other items I would need. First time visiting this office. My appt was for a skin cancer check. That requires your whole body to be examined for any suspicious mole or bump that be cancerous, Yes, it is done naked. I have had this exam in the past as skin cancer runs in my family and I periodically get checked. I was dreading it as having felt extremely self conscious standing naked on a large “paper towel”.in a very cold office. Much to my surprise I was told to strip down except for underpants and the wonderful medical assistant handed me a full length gown that completely covered me. A very young doctor came in, introduced himself as Dr Nadam. He explained what he would be doing and to feel free to ask questions. As the exam proceeded, the only parts exposed was the part he was examining. I felt comfortable, at ease, and greatly relieved. When the exam was completed, he explained my “mole pattern” and what to be concerned with in the future. I highly recommend this physician. He was professional and consistent of my modesty.

The office is clean and seems efficient. The parking is not adequate for the number of people who need to park. This was my first time at the center and I was not adequately informed of the length of time my procedure would take. I had a very small spot that needed to be evaluated, and then potentially excised. it took five hours. The surgeon was skilled, and I was happy with his with his work. But the office needs to reevaluate its procedures so people like me don’t wait five hours for a fairly simple procedure.

This was third visit to see Dr. Crispin. I have found her to be prompt, professional, kind, efficient (without causing the patient to feel rushed) and friendly. She clearly explains what procedure will be taking place, what the patient can expect in terms of the healing process, wound care, and follow-up checks, if needed. Her nurse, Brianna, is patient and kind, as well, and will reiterate proper wound care after Dr.Crispin leaves the exam room. Although I had little interaction with the reception staff, I did notice that none of the three I encountered during my visit at the Ryan Ranch location smiled and only greeted me after I had greeted them first. A warm SMILE 😊 goes a loooooong way and costs nothing!

Fast, friendly, efficient service from everyone I encountered in the front & back offices. Even though I was early, I was able to be seen by the doctor as soon as I updated my information in their new medical records system using their digital tablets. I encountered a glitch, but this was taken care of after I saw the doctor, and the experience was otherwise very convenient. The nurse who took me back early helped me quickly fill in the rest of the records, and less than 5 minutes later, I was seen by the doctor. I had all my questions answered to my satisfaction, and the doctor gave me helpful information and a pamphlet on how to spot skin cancer early and sent me on my merry way. The power outlets, guest Wi-Fi, and WeBoost cellular signal access point were very convenient for while I was waiting. All things considered, it was a good appointment. Aside from the long wait times to get a non-emergency appointment (a few months) it was an overall very positive experience.

It took 3 months for me to get today’s appointment at California Skin Institute. After reading CSI’s horrible Yelp reviews, I seriously considered canceling the appointment. Fortunately, my skin condition is so prolonged and bothersome that I decided to keep the appointment. I’m very happy I did! The front desk ladies were courteous and welcoming. There was absolutely no wait time. Jhoselyn led me into an examining room immediately after I completed the necessary paperwork. She was caring and professional. Dr. Weaver was personable, thorough, and exceedingly gentle with his examination. I found him to be respectful and attentive. He asked me pertinent questions, and suggested methods of addressing my condition. He then took a skin culture for lab analysis, and immediately sent prescriptions to my pharmacy. He took time to address my additional questions and concerns, and asked me to followup with him in 3 weeks. My CSI experience was 5-star from start to finish. It couldn’t possibly have been any better. I wholeheartedly recommend California Skin Institute!

I only have positive things to say about the CSI in Monterey, specifically Dr. Weaver! I've only had two experiences with CSI. One in Salinas with a different doctor, and that experience was, to make a long story short, negative (just look at some of the other reviews, you'll get what I'm saying). I was honestly worried going into this appointment at the Monterey office with a new doctor, because I had read such negative reviews, supported by my experience. However, upon walking in, staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The medical assistant I saw was such a joy to be with. She eased my worries and was just naturally empathetic and warm. Dr. Weaver was the same way - very calming, gently, and attentive to my concerns and what I had to say. He also took the time for necessary actions, such as a biopsy and referring me for blood work. He gets things done and cares about his patients, so does his staff. Thank you CSI - Monterey, specifically Dr. Weaver and his team!
