I wish the doctor i had the appointment with would have checked or known i had Ford insurance, which he does not take. What is the difference between other insurers I do not know. I was happy that my trip was not waisted because another doctor was able to take me in. Still waiting for the prescription he made for me to be given to CVS. Dr. Kanwar is amazing. Fantastic “bedside manner” - so polite, so friendly, very emotionally intelligent in delivering what could very well be taken as “bad” news! She is so pleasant, thorough, and aware of how she relays information - especially if that information essentially means that “evidence of needing to go to the ER asap” is found during a routine eye exam! I have never once arrived or left her office feeling bad, negative, unsure, or unhopeful. She & her team are the most diligent and consistent, in follow ups & communication (both with me AND the rest of my care team!) about appointments & how my symptoms are progressing. I had switched eye doctors on a whim due to changing insurance, and SO thankful I happened to land on Dr. Kanwar for my opthamologist! Staff at OSM is always on top of their game. This week I called because of a sudden emerging problem and they treated it as the serious condition it was, getting me an appointment 60 minutes after my phone call. From check in to taking history to testing to check out the office and medical staff is well trained and great to work with. I travel cross town and once counted 22 Ophthalmic offices I drive past to get to OSM, two right in my neighborhood, and it is worth the drive to deal with these true professionals.
Dr Ellenberg is very kind and speaks gently. He explains everything clearly and answers all questions. I appreciate his gentle manner, it is comforting. I could not ask for more. He is extremely knowledgeable and likable.

I enjoy this job and seeing the staff and patients. We can be very steady at times but it's worth it in the end because we're helping the patients to improve their pain that they deal with on a daily basis and that is very rewarding in itself!

I was so appreciative of no long waits like most of the time I have to do in most doctor offices. Turns out Dr. Ellenberg found it was just something I had to keep an eye on (no pun intended) and return in 3 months to check again. Also said if I had certain symptoms to call ASAP. My husband was with me and we both appreciated how efficient the office was run. I have an appointment in January for a re-check so I'm hoping we have the same experience!

Normally I am very apprehensive about going to see doctors of any practice. It always seems like the world wants to find something wrong with you. So even before going I was majorly concerned. My eye doctor wanted me to see a specialist for my right eye because of noticeable eye strain and issues concerning the veins. Upon entering the facility all I received was kindness. The doctor and technicians assisting me on every machine explained in detail what they were doing and why it was necessary to complete each procedure. They were very thorough and comforting in answering any questions that I might have been concerned with. Outstanding! My first visit to the practice (referred by my physician). I arrived at the scheduled time (7AM), very brief wait before being taken back and immediately began my diabetic eye exam. Their process is a well-oiled machine and all of the techs and Dr. Ellenberg were professional and efficient. I was prepared for a "two hour" process, but I was done in one. Well done!

The girls and staff get a A++++ they were very kind, patient, personable. Took the time to explain everything they were going to do to me. I had to have die injected into my vein to see the veins behind my eyes. I had interaction with the staff at the front desk several different girls in the back and everyone of them were amazing! Until the doctor came in the room. He looked everywhere but made eye contact with me including my shoes or the chair I was sitting in. He didn’t get my name right so I helped him and he said, oh I was close enough. When I had a question about what he was explaining, the issue with my eyes, he said it’s all in the papers just read the papers. He was very happy with himself and in a big hurry to get out of the room as he was walking out the door with one hand on the door knob he said if you have any questions call me, (like he would have time to talk). He made a point of telling me who he was and what his position was and spoke very quickly. It’s unfortunate. I probably won’t be going back there. Loved his staff. Hope he keeps them. All four stars are for his staff.

Dr. Ellenberg was knowledgeable and able to answer questions - plus, he was cheerfully willing. I only had a few minutes with him directly, but they were used well. I got the answer to my current health needs, and clearly knew what to watch for in the future. Additionally, I remembered one last question I‘d forgotten earlier, and happened to see him in the hall - again, he was cheerfully willing to answer, and I left understanding my eye health and future needs in a much clearer “big picture” way. Bring your questions written down - your time with the Dr. will feel brief, but if you’re ready to use it well, he’s ready to be an excellent resource. Highly recommend.

I was referred to Dr. Kleinfeldt for cataracts by Bayview Optical. Cataracts were strongly diminishing my vision and I wouldn't drive at night because I didn't feel I could safely. The vision experts at OSM explained everything in detail so I completely understood what cataracts were and how they, through surgery, was going to correct the problem. I used to wear very thick glasses as a kid, then very strong contacts as an adult. Now I only need readers for using the computer or reading & polarized sunglasses while driving on sunny days. I love Dr. Kleinfeldt and Dr. Ellenberg at OSM in Livonia. They have both taken very good care of my eyes. The intake staff are always kind, friendly and patient. Dr. Ellenberg even removed large floaters for me. I can't pay enough wonderful compliments to him and the staff. I would surely recommend OSM to anyone experiencing issues, problems with your vision.

I developed serious cataracts at a young age- 45. Dr. Kleinfeldt did the surgery of both my eyes. The Drs and Technicians and also the office staff are all exceptionally kind and caring. They call you back promptly when you are worried or have an issue and get you right back in to see the dr. For those in other reviews that say “the drs are in and out in a flash with no bedside manner”... you must ask your dr questions and they will spend the time addressing your questions! It’s rather uncouth to leave a bad review of such excellent drs and staff if you yourself do not ask questions or think of them AFTER you’ve left the office. Try writing down any concerns or questions before your appointment and take the questions with you and ask about them and I know by experience that at least Dr Kleinfeldt will spend extra time addressing your concerns. I had my retina detachment surgery here. Dr. Allenburg was awesome. He made me feel confident that I will recover well. I am still recovering but my overall experience with this facility and especially the Retina Specialist and the outpatient facility was very good. Even post surgery, my questions were answered promptly by Doctor's surgical assistant. I would surely go back to them for future eye issues.

Hi everyone Can anybody recommend a good eye surgeon in Livonia
Has anyone had a personal or family friend experience with vein, occlusion behind the eye, causing blurred vision? My primary healthcare provider sent I do have hypertension and went on medication’s for the first time in my life for this. If anyone has any alternative recommendations from personal experience, I would appreciate it and thank you so much. Happy holidays to everyone.

Very professional and they sure know how to do their jobs well. I was in and out within an hour. The Dr came in and explained things to me that I understand. He was great. Highly recommend them for the care of your eyes.
Staff at OSM is always on top of their game. This week I called because of a sudden emerging problem and they treated it as the serious condition it was, getting me an appointment 60 minutes after my phone call. From check in to taking history to testing to check out the office and medical staff is well trained and great to work with. I travel cross town and once counted 22 Ophthalmic offices I drive past to get to OSM, two right in my neighborhood, and it is worth the drive to deal with these true professionals.
Dr Klinfelt did my cataract surgery and did a wonderful job. I highly recommend him and his office staff. Everyone is very nice and puts you at ease. Thanks

Doctor Kleinfeldt performed my cataract surgery and did a fantastic job!!! The staff was friendly and patient. I felt no pain, which was a big concern of mine. I cant thank Doctor Kleinfeldt enough for giving me back my eyesight. I now have 20/20 vision. The down time for recovery was minimal, which Im thankful for. I had the surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Monday! Im so excited to be able to drive after dark again. Thank you so much Doctor Kleinfeldt!!!

Dr. Ellenberg explains the issue in easy to understand ways and makes me feel comfortable that I will be taken care of should the need arise in the future. So far we are monitoring several times a year to make sure nothing changes for the worse. I have confidence in OSM.
