A great experience overall! The two vans we had were old (320k& 400k km on the odometers) and our first one started leaking oil buy we called them immediately as we noticed and they set us up with a mechanic that could come out (was there in 20 minutes) who recommended we bring it back and trade it in for another the next day. We did and it was a quick and seamless experience. The employees were so friendly and very timely, often opening shop before 8:30am if we were outside waiting. Kudos for going above and beyond! We did avoid going east over Arthur’s pass because we were afraid our first van wouldn’t make it but our second one might have… unfortunately we had to cut Christchurch out of our trip… still giving 5 stars because compared to our customer service experiences where we live, this place was amazing to deal with. The van itself was comfy and had everything we needed. We used both included beds and both were cozy with the comforters and sheets provided.

I’m very sorry it has taken me so long to write this review, but my experience with JUCY Car and Campervan Rentals in Queenstown, New Zealand truly deserves recognition. Back in October 2024, their customer service team went above and beyond to help my friend and me secure a vehicle through their relocation deal, and the price was absolutely incredible. From the very beginning, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help us make the most of our trip. They clearly explained the relocation program, answered all of our questions, and made the entire pickup process smooth and stress-free. Thanks to their guidance, we were able to lock in a deal that felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That relocation program was an absolute steal, period. It allowed us to travel the entire South Island for a full week at a fraction of the usual cost. Because we saved so much on transportation, we were able to spend more on experiences and adventures—glacier views, mountain drives, small towns, and unforgettable landscapes straight out of a postcard. Dropping the vehicle off in Christchurch was just as easy. Even though it was extremely busy with many people returning vehicles, the staff handled everything efficiently. I was checked out very quickly and on my way to the airport without any hassle. JUCY didn’t just rent us a car—they helped make a long-held travel dream possible. I highly recommend JUCY Queenstown to anyone looking for great service, honest pricing, and an unforgettable New Zealand road trip experience.

I drove the Suzuki Swift and had it for 9 days. I was impressed by the friendly staff and how easy to pick up and drop off to car. Good price The free shuttle went every 15 mins to and from the airport. I will be going with Jucy again. Maybe a bigger car as the Suzuki Swift was rather small but overall a great little car.

I recently went on a bit of a ten day roadtrip adventure around New Zealand and Jucy was the company that I went through for my campervan. The vehicle was exactly what I needed to both get around, and setup overnight in (as NZ has some great freedom camping sites). I picked up my vehicle in Christchurch, but during my trip, when I went to Queenstown and was heading down towards The Anau I got involved in a serious crash (my first such incident, and it was pretty scary..). I hit a patch of 'black ice' and lost control of the vehicle, and the campervan ended up on its side in a ditch and into a farmers paddock. Black ice really is no joke; and is incredibly difficult to see; after my encounter, I strongly advise being mindful of it as best we can, especially during the colder months of the year. Thankfully I managed to get out of the situation pretty unscathed other than a bump on my elbow and the fact I bit my tongue; so I am immensely thankful for that. The locals, the fire department, the police, ambulance service and the farmers were honestly incredible, friendly and so helpful which made such a difference in this kind of situation. Thankfully I got out the full insurance package (the stress Free plus), which I leaned into thinking it's better safe than sorry, and I'm really thankful I did- and now I kind of strongly recommend it, as you never know when something might happen. I want to give major thankfulness to the Jucy crew, who were incredibly supportive during this time. At the scene on the phone they were amazing to talk with, and definitely put people first, and emphasized that they were just thankful I was okay, and when I got back to Queenstown, the team there were amazing. They offered me another vehicle, which I collected the next day (as I wanted to give myself a little break from driving before deciding to head out of the mountains back towards the coast). They even called to check in with how I'm going; again, an incredibly supportive team. When I got back to Christchurch to drop off my vehicle, the team there were equally supportive. All of this made such a world of difference at this time. So, I really have to say I highly recommend them; from both the comfort and affordability of the campervans, and for the amazing services I experienced behind the scenes. Overall, despite this incident with black ice, New Zealand provided so many incredible moments and experiences. It's an amazing place, and the campervan definitely allowed me to thoroughly explore so much of it.

We had an amazing experience with the staff. Roger at the Queenstown airport was friendly, knowledgeable and made our arrival and car pick up a breeze. The return on Christchurch airport was with a lovely German guy (didn’t catch his name). He went out of this way to help us after hours and the level of kindness and service was truly outstanding. The car we chose was basic but well cleaned and worked well, we didn’t have any problems. My only suggestion would be to leave an ice scrapper in the car for South Island winter customers. Everything else was flawless and the staff is 10/10! Thank you!

Overall great experience. When checking in, make sure to ask about their “pay it forward supermarket”. This is where past travellers leave behind useful things like cleaning products, cooking products, condiments, alcohol etc for those beginning their trip. We could’ve saved a fair bit of money if we’d known about it, but no one on staff mentioned it when we arrived. The vans were well maintained. Only complaints from ours was the wiper blades were useless and the front tires were fairly smooth (thankfully we had no rain). Our fridge door was broken, which we didn’t discover until two days in. Thankfully it was still functional with a bit of MacGyvering. Useful items to bring before starting your journey would be cigarette lighter chargers and a mobile phone holder! Jamming mine between the windshield and dash worked for the most part but was not ideal. Overall, JUCY were great to deal with and the van served us very well. The bed is surprisingly comfortable and the Toyota Hiace is the ultimate workhorse that never lets you down! Would hire again.

Rented a Suzuki swift from here and drove it all around the coast. It was a bit older but ran fine, was good on gas mileage (which is pricey there), and was much cheaper than the other rental locations. Rental process was smooth.

We rented a Jucy Chaser (fully self contained - legal to park on the street where permitted) for 2 weeks. We traveled from Auckland to Queenstown with stops in Christchurch, Tongariro NP, Wellington to name a few places. The staff at Jucy were friendly and eager to help us start our travels. Each Jucy location has a free pantry where you can get or leave excess supplies. Very helpful in our travels. The Toyota HiAce van is smaller than full size rv's which helped on the often very narrow 2 lane roadways. Driving on the left, seated on the right was not as bad as I thought. The hardest thing to remember is the turn signal is on the right. I often wiped the windshield when I meant to signal a turn. It's also great fun doing the "Jucy Wave" at Jucy campers you pass on the roads. The Toyota is underpowered on steep hill climbs but it made our 1,300 mile travels just fine with a lot of downshifting under power. The Jucy campervan came with great bedding, cookware and eating utensils. We bought bottled water for drinking & cooking. Dumping is not that bad. I do highly recommend getting some toilet freshener for the cassette toilet to keep things pleasant. Setting up the bed and taking it down was reasonably easy. We are seniors and getting out of bed in the middle of the night was a task but we managed. Get the Chaser for 2 people unless the 3rd is willing to sleep on the floor or on the front seats. It was fun and enjoyable.

We got a rental car in Queenstown. A nice 2015 Suzuki Swift that was just what we needed and was very well priced for one week of hire. It went very well and was cheap on petrol. We were picked up at the airport by Jucy, had a smooth pickup experience and it was the same on drop off. Happy to recommend Jucy. Back in Queenstown again Feb 25 and grabed another Jucy Suzuki ( a red one this time) late model car, runs well and good on petrol. It got us all over the place no worries. Good service from the busy Queenstown team with airport pickup and drop off 👍

Excellent from start to finish. No problems no issues. Sort the paperwork, quick run through of the van and off I went. I had a Chaser for 2 weeks. What an awesome little van. Has everything for a self contained van trip, including a hot shower!! I knew it had a shower, but didn't know the water was hot until I burnt myself washing the dishes after the first dinner! 😂 I read some negative reviews and comments before booking, so was a bit tentative but I would definitely book with Jucy again. My bond was returned to my account before I boarded my flight out of Queenstown, just in time to pay the bond on my next van rental. The team were short staffed when I arrived, but it was 30 minutes to closing time so that's understandable. A WhatsApp number to call for the shuttle would be useful. I only have a data plan so couldn't call the number given which meant I had to get a taxi there

I rented just a week before pickup date in April 2024. The rate was very reasonable as compared to any other car rental company. Swift Cars are a bit old (2008-2014 model) but they work fine, no issues. Acceleration was good, mileage was good but since it was an old model it didn’t had rearview camera while in reverse however it was not such big a deal. Would have liked much more if Bluetooth connectivity was there.

I had a good experience with Jucy Crib as part of relocation deal. Laura was great at Queenstown centre. Explained all the features very well and easy to communicate with. The car was decently clean with blanket and pillows provided. The bed was comfy fro 2 people and easy to lay out. Lloyd and the team at Auckland centre was superb too. I would use their services again.

Pros: - They offer free transfers to and from airport (not well advertised / didn’t notice it in comms? a taxi driver told us, so make sure to take advantage of that!) - Has everything you need and easy to park etc - Other Jucy drivers wave at you when you pass each other, which is cute 😂 Cons: - It is the bare minimum but does the job! - We had some small issues such as car key automatically locking and unlocking the car without pressing it, to keep an eye on incase the van unlocks itself when you are walking away from it. Bed slots itself out on the slightest move which is a bit tiresome, however we didn’t mind too much… we did speak to some other Jucy driver’s experiencing more major issues with things in their vans - seems to be hit and miss / luck of the draw what you get? - Booking online is a bit annoying as it takes you to click ‘book’ on your van of choice.. then gets says it will get back to you on availability, instead of just showing what’s available upfront. We were going for something bigger initially from Christchurch so booked our flights first as as appeared to be available, then it turned out there were no vans at all in Christchurch so we had to pay to change flights from Christchurch to Queenstown taking the last available camper there which was as a small one. Staff on phone were a bit unhelpful but got there in the end. Overall good experience for us but points to consider before booking. 😊

I'm currently writing this review from within our campervan, nearing the end of our trip when we deliver the car in Aukland. The whole experience has been more than amazing. The day that we picked up our ride, there was a problem with my drivers license, which meant that I wasn't allowed to drive that day. This had the potential to ruin our vacation from day one, but the lovely people at the Queenstown office went well out of their way to help us out with suggestions, and they even ended up driving us to one of the closest campings, so we didn't have to rent an Airbnb until the issue was resorted. Then, when we finally were allowed to hit the road after a few days, we found out that our outdoor table was broken. Thankfully we wanted to drive to Milford Sound anyway, so on our way there we took a small detour to the Jucy Queenstown office and got a replacement straight away. Overal the condition of the car was oke. No problems at all with the drivetrain, but some of the interior lights weren't working, and a couple of curtain straps were broken. But being handy with rope, this was easily resolved. Kitchen utensils weren't the best (cooking knives were blunt, and we only had a metal slotted turner which isn't great in a coated frypan) but we made due with what we had. And we felt that the car was missing some storage space, which we solved by buying these plastic kitchen hooks which we placed throughout the camper, so we could hang plastic bags on them, which worked perfectly. So all in all it has been a great experience. Definitely would recommend!

We picked-up a JUCY Chaser at Queenstown for 3 weeks and dropped it off in Auckland. Everything was perfect and our experience with JUCY has fitted at 100% of our expectations. The car we had was 330 000 km, we drove for 5 000 km and we have nothing to say. The balance quality vs price is fair.

The car that we collected broke down 15 minutes after we started driving it, and we were stuck on the side of the road with a faulty engine and low oil pressure. The service we received over the phones was absolutely terrible. We called up Jucy multiple times and barely were able to get through, and when we did, we were told there would be a message passed on and someone would call us back soon, which never happened. We also called up the AA roadside assistance which is linked with Jucy who hung up on us. We were left with no option but to get a taxi back (which was not reimbursed) to Jucy Queenstown where we picked up the car to get help in-branch. I am giving 5 stars in this review because of the INCREDIBLE customer service delivered to us by Ashley Lonergan at Jucy Queenstown. Ashley went above and beyond to sort our situation out and get us help, and spent hours trying to organise an AA callout to us because there were no notes or requests made for us by the people over the phone. Had it not been for Ashley's help we would have been stuck in that broken down car the entire day and probably the entire night. We are shocked and extremely disappointed in the lack of support by the Jucy helpline but we want to give a huge shout out to Ashley for working so hard to get the situation rectified. Thank you Ashley!!

We rented a camper van here online and came for our reservation. Very smooth to call their number as soon as we landed from our flight, and jumped on their Transfer Truck to the rental location. So fast to check in, and a thorough intro to the van and how to drive and operate it. Great gas mileage considering we drove it up to Christchurch for the drop off. Rent from JUCY!

My experience with Jucy so far has been surprisingly easy and straightforward. The process was faster than expected and the staff were polite & knowledgeable. We hired a small car and definitely got that as we found out it was a Suzuki Swift. I have never driven a Suzuki and it has been interesting and mostly enjoyable. I would say 5 stars if the small car selection was updated and not as old, but I feel a solid 4/5 stars is appropriate. Also the Bluetooth is pretty difficult to figure out without a YouTube tutorial, and some of the Suzuki's do not have Blutooth built in, so be prepared. I will definitely ride with Jucy again in the future and will be recommending them to friends and family who travel.

Notice on the check in hours- we arrived at 4:30 to learn that we couldn’t pick up our van until the next day because they close. Everyone was super nice about it, but it was devastating to learn after 27 hours of travel. It would also be nice to have a few more essentials in the van. We’ve rented vans all over the world and typically are supplied with garbage bags, dish soap and cooking oil. We still love the van and would recommend! We would just let people know if these two details. :)

While the car was a bit old, the customer service was fantastic. We had trouble getting a taxi/uber to the airport, and Jucy shuttle had finished earlier that day. The customer service representative, Ashley asked her colleague, Jonny, the Branch Manager from Auckland, to drop us off to the airport. Both went the extra mile to help us get to the airport. It's rare to find a rental car provider that would do that.

Loved our Jucy Campervan, picked up from the Queenstown branch and the lady serving us was lovely, showed us how everything works inside the campervan and as we booked the stress free plus we got a free table, chairs and GPS for our trip. We didn’t use the shower as we stayed at holiday parks but tested it and it was in working condition, the toilet was so handy on long journeys. The only issue we came across was when going down steep hills the brakes started to get hot and smelt of rubber, this was fixed upon a quick call and drop off to the main branch the morning after where they advised us to use low gear when going down steep hills as using the brakes can burn them out. Never driven a heavy vehicle so this was a really good thing to note, they even gave us a call shortly after to check if the van was still ok which I think was awesome service, it doesn’t go too fast uphill but switching gears helped boost that a lot so this was no problem for us after some time of getting used to the gears. I would say if driving the max speed would be at 100kms or 80kms in windy weather. Overall though the positives outweighed all negatives and we loved the experience, would definitely book with Jucy again on our next road trip.

My boyfriend and I recently rented the Juicy condo campervan and we had such a great experience! My boyfriend drove the van the entire time and it was his first time handling a sprinter van. He said he found it easy to maneuver. The van was in good condition and seemed to be well maintained as the ride was smooth. Yes you could hear things rattle in the back but everything stayed in its place. We did take the van in winter so beware that the water pump did freeze every morning but by the time we were on the road and driving this was not an issue later in the day. We loved the easy set up of the van and the no fuss of having to set up a tent. We also love the freedom of having a self contained vehicle and at a fair price. I would recommend booking a juicy van.

Upon arrival in Queenstown airport, we headed to Jucy counter and gave them my reference number and they’ve given us our key and directed us to the pickup zone. Everything was a splendid experience from picking up of the campervan to dropping it in our last stop in Christchurch Airport. I was a little apprehensive to book with Jucy because of some of the bad reviews, but all the campervan companies in Queenstown have similar feedback. We went with Jucy because they are located at the airport and larger then some of the others. The online booking process was easy. We found the Jucy booth in the Queenstown airport by the other car rental companies, they accessed my contract and had me out the door in minutes. The walk to the vehicle pickup is on the far side of the parking lot. They had our Campervan waiting and we hit the road after a quick walk thru. The van was clean and worked great. A little sluggish in the mountains but that's to be expected. Dropping off was just as easy.

Super helpful staff, good options for rental cars. We couldn't get the cheaper 50$/day car, but the Mazda 3 we got was surprisingly good on fuel (round trip from Queenstown to Moeraki boulders, kitaki lighthouse, Oamaru and back only used 3/4 of a tank for roughly 700 kms of driving) and we were able to drop off the car after hours without any hassle. They also provide a road guide booklet to help drivers.

Super Friendly staff - you expect this from the New Zealanders but Juicy goes above the high level of service and treats you like you are extra special. Clean, easy to drive car that went absolutely everywhere including dusty 45 degree mountain tracks that even the sheep didn't like - but we loved - what a view! Excellent value for money, easy to collect and drop off. We even got a lift back to the airport with our luggage after leaving the car. I had a bum leg - (one mountain too many and we weren't even skiing) and the 'Lovely Juicy Guy' took my luggage to the door!!! How Juicy is that?!
Excellent from start to finish. No problems no issues. Sort the paperwork, quick run through of the van and off I went. I had a Chaser for 2 weeks. What an awesome little van. Has everything for a self contained van trip, including a hot shower!! I knew it had a shower, but didn't know the water was hot until I burnt myself washing the dishes after the first dinner! 😂 I read some negative reviews and comments before booking, so was a bit tentative but I would definitely book with Jucy again. My bond was returned to my account before I boarded my flight out of Queenstown, just in time to pay the bond on my next van rental. The team were short staffed when I arrived, but it was 30 minutes to closing time so that's understandable. A WhatsApp number to call for the shuttle would be useful. I only have a data plan so couldn't call the number given which meant I had to get a taxi there
We rented a Jucy Chaser (fully self contained - legal to park on the street where permitted) for 2 weeks. We traveled from Auckland to Queenstown with stops in Christchurch, Tongariro NP, Wellington to name a few places. The staff at Jucy were friendly and eager to help us start our travels. Each Jucy location has a free pantry where you can get or leave excess supplies. Very helpful in our travels. The Toyota HiAce van is smaller than full size rv's which helped on the often very narrow 2 lane roadways. Driving on the left, seated on the right was not as bad as I thought. The hardest thing to remember is the turn signal is on the right. I often wiped the windshield when I meant to signal a turn. It's also great fun doing the "Jucy Wave" at Jucy campers you pass on the roads. The Toyota is underpowered on steep hill climbs but it made our 1,300 mile travels just fine with a lot of downshifting under power. The Jucy campervan came with great bedding, cookware and eating utensils. We bought bottled water for drinking & cooking. Dumping is not that bad. I do highly recommend getting some toilet freshener for the cassette toilet to keep things pleasant. Setting up the bed and taking it down was reasonably easy. We are seniors and getting out of bed in the middle of the night was a task but we managed. Get the Chaser for 2 people unless the 3rd is willing to sleep on the floor or on the front seats. It was fun and enjoyable.
We had a great time traveling on the Jucy Crib though ours was a bit 'old'. What matters is the vehicle is in good condition & safe to drive around. Thanks Jucy for making this 33rd Anniversary so meaningful to us
Overall great experience. When checking in, make sure to ask about their “pay it forward supermarket”. This is where past travellers leave behind useful things like cleaning products, cooking products, condiments, alcohol etc for those beginning their trip. We could’ve saved a fair bit of money if we’d known about it, but no one on staff mentioned it when we arrived. The vans were well maintained. Only complaints from ours was the wiper blades were useless and the front tires were fairly smooth (thankfully we had no rain). Our fridge door was broken, which we didn’t discover until two days in. Thankfully it was still functional with a bit of MacGyvering. Useful items to bring before starting your journey would be cigarette lighter chargers and a mobile phone holder! Jamming mine between the windshield and dash worked for the most part but was not ideal. Overall, JUCY were great to deal with and the van served us very well. The bed is surprisingly comfortable and the Toyota Hiace is the ultimate workhorse that never lets you down! Would hire again.
We had an amazing experience with the staff. Roger at the Queenstown airport was friendly, knowledgeable and made our arrival and car pick up a breeze. The return on Christchurch airport was with a lovely German guy (didn’t catch his name). He went out of this way to help us after hours and the level of kindness and service was truly outstanding. The car we chose was basic but well cleaned and worked well, we didn’t have any problems. My only suggestion would be to leave an ice scrapper in the car for South Island winter customers. Everything else was flawless and the staff is 10/10! Thank you!
I found the staff at Jucy friendly, diligent & the service from & to the airport was a must, so thankful the service was provided. Calling me after landing in NZ was great 👍 I have used Juicy a few times when going to NZ & will continue to use their service in the future.
Very comfortable van to drive. Has everything you need for a road trip . Good value for money Highly recommend.
The staff were very efficient when I went to collect, really clear about uses and how I was expected to return it. They took the time to make sure I had everything I needed- offering snow chains. The Campervan was also in really good condition, well maintained and drove smoothly which made for a lovely trip! Thank you
