After a catastrophic water leak in our kitchen, Hays and Sons restored our kitchen to its original beauty. My project manager was Kyle Spence, and he and his team worked seamlessly to restore our drywall and cabinets. They had to remove our countertop and plumbing in order to install the rebuilt cabinets, and they did this without damaging the backsplash. Allen White, the carpenter, rebuilt and installed the cabinets without one scratch. He caulked the countertop, and it looked as good as new. Kyle Spence and his team were on time, cleaned up, and went out of their way to ease the stress of the situation. They even scheduled the bulk of the work during a week when we were out of town. What a relief! Kyle even repaired at no charge a non-working GFI plug that affected a row of kitchen lights. All through this process, he kept me updated on the schedule. I highly recommend this amazing team of experts.

We had an issue that led to water damage in our kitchen, and Hays and Sons were on top of it. It was on a Friday and Matt showed up immediately to assess the issue and decide how to move forward. He was able to answer many questions and was very knowledgeable. He placed 3 industrial fans and a dehumidifier for the weekend. Even though it was the weekend, if I had a question, I could text him and he was very responsive. I also worked with Brandon and Blair on coming in and doing thermal imaging and they were quick to build a quote. Also, Brandon was available for my multiple questions and was very knowledgeable. He worked with insurance on the financial aspects of what work was needed, and in a timely fashion. Once insurance accepted the quote, Allen, project manager, was in contact with us immediately. He came to the house to go through the process with myself and my husband and was also very knowledgeable and able to answer questions. During the process of waiting for supplies, which seemed forever, due to manufacturer not Hays and Sons, it took a little bit longer than expected to start the project. In that time, Allen was always available if we had questions and was consistent in communicating and updating us. We had an estimated work timeframe of 2 1/2 weeks, bc the extent of damage was still unknown until cabinets were pulled out. It actually took less than 2 weeks. Which was a blessing. Allen had a cleaning crew who came out and unpacked all of the cabinets and drawers for us, just to decrease the stress we already were dealing with, and they were very organized and careful with our belongings. The flooring turned out perfect and is absolutely beautiful. After the project was finished, the same ladies who packed everything, unpacked and correctly returned all food and dishes to the correct spot and cleaned everything so well, even the front door glass. Very impressed. I hope we never have anything like this happen again, but if so, we will definitely put our trust in Hays and Sons to do the job correctly. Highly recommend this company. They did everything, from beginning to end. We didn't have to worry about hiring contractors, they do all of that for you. I can't express how happy we are about the end result.

I hesitated leaving a review at the beginning. Things didn't go the way I wanted them to. We had a water heater go out and flood our laundry room and kitchen. They came out and did the water mitigation. Unfortunately, part of it was missed. Another contractor found there was still water saturation. But Hays + Sons came back out and made sure that part was dry. When yet another contractor came out and said there was mold because of the missed water, Hays + Sons made it right. They came back out and treated for mold and stood by their guarantee. It wasn't a perfect experience, but their customer service is top notch and given the opportunity, they will make things right - to your satisfaction.

We had a broken pipe at the Wabash and Erie Canal Interpretive Center that flooded the kitchen and conference room. We were sickened to walk in and see the conference room under water. We called Hays and Sons immediately and they were there on Monday morning with dozens of large fans and all the equipment needed to dry out the facility. The staff was very professional and very easy to work with. The estimate they provided was what they charged and the work quality was excellent. We were afraid that we would need to replace the carpet but because of their ability to dry it out in a timely manner and clean it, the carpet was as good as new. Our ceiling leak was an unexpected issue that we encountered . We called up Hays and Sons and Matt with the water restoration team came out, was incredibly polite , fast and responsive . We are just in the pre-construction phase of this project but I wanted to leave a review regarding the estimator's commitment to advocating for the customer. It's been 6 months and 3 different insurance adjusters that underestimated or improperly estimated the amount of work required to make it "right" and repair a garage roof from a fallen tree. Justin Winger spent a significant amount of time and effort to advocate for doing a full roof repair since branches affected multiple aspects of the roof and not just the one side as the initial adjuster assessed. Also siding repair, structural support, etc which is appropriate based on the damage. Anyway, even though we haven't really started the project, they did temp it early on, they were recommended by the insurance company and it's clear they are committed to their customers! Followup: Hays and sons completed this project to perfection! They were amazing to work with and would absolutely recommend without reservation. We will utilize their services in the future when the need arises!

My daughter and her family had a house fire on Thanksgiving of 2022. This was a scary time for all of us as we have never had something like this happen before, we started the process with our insurance company who gave me a list of contractors, Hays and sons were in that list, I tried them first, they were awesome they talked us trough everything from start to finish, if we had a question or concern they would answer writhing usually an hour or so, they kept us in the loop and Mae the whole process go smoothly and easy for us. They worked fast but did a maticulous job. Even the office staff were supportive and helpful. Let's face it — when you're calling Hays + Sons, you're probably having a bad day. When a recent storm caused a multi-hour power outage, my backup sump pump failed to prevent my basement from flooding. Hays + Sons sent Justin to take a look at the damage within a couple of hours, despite it being a very busy night for them. He even spent a good part of an hour talking with my insurance company on the phone, determining how much coverage I had so that he could tailor the work his team would be doing to dry out the basement properly but without escalating costs. So, yeah, it was a bad day for me … but there were two silver linings. One is that my home suffered only water damage. (I know that other people nearby have experienced far worse storm damage than I did in recent weeks! My heart goes out to those whose homes were severely damaged.) The other is that Justin and the entire Hays + Sons crew were incredibly communicative, friendly, and thorough during the cleanup process. Storms will happen. I'm very glad to have had professional support by friendly people from a central Indiana company like Hays + Sons.

We engaged Hayes and Sons following damage to a finished garage-type building by a major tree fall on the building. We had multiple holes in the roof, interior ceiling and trim, and a light fixture. They arrived promptly, provided for immediate temporary coverage, checked for electrical risk and clean-up. The repairs were done in a timely and professional manor, and they communicated the status and plans effectively. They did the repairs 'right,' eg, replaced the entire roof, rather than just patching it. They worked well with our insurance company, and were available to answer our questions and address our concerns. Not only would we recommend them without reservations, we chose to engage them for a follow-on painting and renovation project.

We are Robert and Kathy Agley...Somehow this questionnaire is getting crossed with "Jean Mapes". However, we do give this Company a 10+++++ Rating for many Reasons. Our first connection was with Blair Stevens, your Insurance Estimator, and who worked diligently on our behalf as to what and where the damages were and what it would cost to repair those damages. We were amazed at the precision as to the actual extent of the damages and the accuracy as to the cost we would be looking at. Secondly: Alan Sanders, the Project Manager came out to work with us as to getting the project started and what we should expect. The courtesy and encouragement these two men afforded us, not to mention the efficiency with which they worked was certainly beyond expectation Thirdly, Carl and his guys came in and renovated the Dining Room Wall and Floor in quick order. Whiz-Bang the work was done and done well in quick order. Shortly thereafter he Drywalling Contractor, Tracy brought his team in and completed his part of the restoration from start to finish in two days time. Once again these guys were not only efficient, but in plain words, pleasant to have around. If we had any questions, they were quick to answer. They worked hard to make sure we were pleased with their work. Last but not least....Carl and Mike came back to install our kitchen cabinetry. Always working efficiently, Carl still had time to make us laugh while at the same time letting us know he would make sure that he did everything just right. At the point when he discovered that everything we ordered from the cabinet company was not there; he was certainly disappointed. Some was missing, some came in broken and some actually came in wrong. What a mess! But he assured us that he would return when we had received everything and would then complete his work. He did return with his same hardworking, fun-loving disposition and completed his work. We must admit that we are actually going to miss such amazing workers. This company turned a horribly hard and confusing situation into an easier situation than expected. They were with us all the way. In fact there was a re-occurrence the following month and they were out again within a couple hours to begin drying it out. Todd, the project manager and hi crew are the epitome of what a contractor should be. Hays is a rare find in the industry. Todd and crew were excellent from start to finish. Everything was explained verbally and in writing in easy to understand yet detailed language. Todd made sure I was satisfied with each phase before proceeding to the next. Can't say enough good things about Hays.

We have worked with Hays + Sons on two separate occasions (2012 & 2015) for water damage from plumbing issues in our house. For our first claim in 2012 we were referred to Hays + Sons through our Insurance Carrier as they are part of their network of preferred contractors. We had to have all of our flooring replaced due to the water damage, which was handled in just about a week. When we had to file another claim in 2015 for an unrelated issue we specifically requested Hays + Sons after having such a positive experience with them the first time. This time the damage was much more significant, we had to have all of our flooring removed (again), along with all of our cabinets and some drywall repairs were necessary. Meanwhile, our house was on the market to be sold. Thankfully, Hays + Sons responded quickly and we were ready for showings again in just a few weeks, and the house looked even better than before! In both cases, Hays walked us through each step of the process from start to finish. Everyone we worked with was professional and courteous, we would definitely hire them again.
Our provider was Kyle S. and he did such a great job in caring for our house after a flood and did everything that he could to ensure that our house was restored and back in working order. He always made sure to communicate every step of the process and gave attention to all the details needed for our old house! He is a genuinely all around good man! I am very pleased with their service and highly recommend them, and Kyle.
I hesitated leaving a review at the beginning. Things didn't go the way I wanted them to. We had a water heater go out and flood our laundry room and kitchen. They came out and did the water mitigation. Unfortunately, part of it was missed. Another contractor found there was still water saturation. But Hays + Sons came back out and made sure that part was dry. When yet another contractor came out and said there was mold because of the missed water, Hays + Sons made it right. They came back out and treated for mold and stood by their guarantee. It wasn't a perfect experience, but their customer service is top notch and given the opportunity, they will make things right - to your satisfaction.
Cannot recommend Hays and Sons enough. The whole mitigation and restoration project was handled with professionalism, communication was top notch and the quality was superb. Lisa, Matthew, Blair and Kyle all executed their respective roles expertly and we were always kept in the loop as to what was going on when. Great job!
I helped my mother with a room restoration that included interior and exterior restoration. I reached out to Hays + Sons and started the process of renovating the areas in question. We were both pleasantly pleased with their detail to work and the communication involved with different aspects of the job. After a catastrophic water leak in our kitchen, Hays and Sons restored our kitchen to its original beauty. My project manager was Kyle Spence, and he and his team worked seamlessly to restore our drywall and cabinets. They had to remove our countertop and plumbing in order to install the rebuilt cabinets, and they did this without damaging the backsplash. Allen White, the carpenter, rebuilt and installed the cabinets without one scratch. He caulked the countertop, and it looked as good as new. Kyle Spence and his team were on time, cleaned up, and went out of their way to ease the stress of the situation. They even scheduled the bulk of the work during a week when we were out of town. What a relief! Kyle even repaired at no charge a non-working GFI plug that affected a row of kitchen lights. All through this process, he kept me updated on the schedule. I highly recommend this amazing team of experts.
