I had a small water issue with water coming thru a window well..I called Hays and 3 hours later they arrived and had everything under control within a hour...Great Service.The Techs(Brenden and Jere) were incredible...They explained everything they were doing in detail and also explained all the next steps to correcting the water issue.. This was the greatest group of movers and packers that I have ever worked with. The girls were Malerie, Sky, Mary, and Madison. They started packing and the guys, consisting of Austin,Bill, and Jose, would take them down the street by truck, dolly, or just walk them down on their own wheels. The girls have their share of trips to the other house too since it’s less that 400 feet to it. I would recommend this crew with flying colors in a heartbeat. Hays and Sons, you’ve got a great crew.

We had a phenomenal experience with the Hays + Sons team under the leadership of Project Manager Justin Duhamell. Justin was exceptionally knowledgeable, thorough, organized, and prompt. It is clear he loves his work and cares deeply about his team and clients. Prior to engaging Hays + Sons, we solicited quotes from other companies about restoration work after our son overflowed his sink and flooded our first floor. The quotes were late, lackluster, and overpriced. The representatives also were largely unresponsive when I followed up - neither of which inspired confidence in their ability to take on the project. Conversely, Justin spent ample time with us to understand our priorities, short- and long-term needs, and goals for the project. He provided a quote when promised, made recommendations on where to source our selections for paint, lighting, tile, flooring, etc., and managed US to the project timeline through weekly progress reports and intermittent texts. Knowing we could reach out with questions at any time was a blessing as we balance jobs, our two young children, volunteer work, and life! Justin supervised the work, and his team was stellar. When the blizzard led to dangerous road conditions, he advocated for his team to leave early so they could make it home safely. We happily agreed, and they blew us away by spending their weekend finishing the job. When the drywall lead wasn’t satisfied, he returned the next day to ensure his work was completed to perfection. We felt confident in Justin’s management, comfortable with his team’s presence in our home (even when we had to duck out at times!), and could not be more pleased with the final product. I only write reviews if I feel service was exceptional, and it absolutely was! We are truly grateful to Justin and to the entire Hays + Sons team from start to finish. We will only consider them for future projects - and will request Justin! - and highly recommend anyone reading this does the same!

We have just completed a water damage restoration with Hays and Sons and had our first floor replaced. Their process is very well orchestrated. In order to empty the first floor of all contents, a team of wonderful folks come in to pack everything. This crew headed up by Kim, were incredibly careful and treated all of our “stuff” as if it was their own. What an efficient and friendly group…I work from home and they were so accommodating. Kudos to Kim, Malerie, Sky and Mary! Then the moving team picks up and delivers furniture and packed boxes once the floor goes down. I have never worked with a moving crew so professional and friendly . Not a scratch, nothing broken or a single issue AT ALL! Huge thank you to Bill, Austin, Jose, and Kevin! They picked up and delivered like a well run machine. Moving is such a painful experience but not with these great folks! No one wants to have a sewage backup on their first floor the week before Christmas while trying to make magic happen for 4 children. Hays and Sons then sent some “elves” my way, by the names of Jerry and Eric. They helped ease my anxiousness about the process, walked me through every step, no matter how many times I repeated myself or had “just one more thing”. They were timely, communicative, responsive. They packed the my boxes and furniture on Oct. 21 & 22 and returned today, Dec. 4, to unload all the boxes and furniture. Where possible they helped me put furniture back together and organized the boxes in an orderly fashion. It was a pretty painless day. They were a very nice crew to work with.

Starting, I had a bathroom where the seal broke and floors were damaged, toilets had to be replaced, floors replaced and painting of one bathroom filed with homeowners insurance. This was beginning of September (around the 8th i think)
The mitigation process was relatively quick. The workers were courteous, professional and thorough. The talked me through everything they were doing and let me know what to expect as we proceeded. This was followed by Jeff, the contractor in charge calling to come out and evaluate what needed to be done to fix the damaged to be filed with the insurance. It was about 3 weeks before he contacted his worker to get someone to start repairs. He did not let me know immediately / regularly that he was negotiating with the insurance. I had to text him and call the main office more than once to find out what I was waiting on since ... well, I needed my bathroom!! Once he was contacted to start work, he had his worker come out and start work the next week and the work was completed very nicely in 2 days. the work was well done and I am very satisfied with the final result (I have pictures but could not get them to upload). Overall, my only complaint was not being actively notified on at least 2-3- days of what was the "waiting" for. If they had I would have gladly given a 5 star review. The biggest problem was my toilet i had no choice but to use ran 24/7 for a month while they were "negotiating" so my water bill that is normally $70 was $180 which was only that low because we were turning the water to the toilet on and off for the entire month when we had to use it. One full month of this was excessive.

I had a great experience with Hays & Sons, and specifically want to commend and recommend Brad Crowe and Heath Naue. On June 25, 2024, a storm knocked out electricity to Bloomington, IN, for more than 48 hours. It also toppled three tall trees from my neighbor's yard onto my house, each more than a 100 ft tall. My wife and I were in California, to attend a family wedding. Brad Crowe and H&S jumped to our rescue, covering the roof with a tarp as soon as they heard of the problem, and removing the water that rained through the ceiling, and stopping and removing the attacking mold. Once the homeowner insurer gave us their estimate, H&S were pronto in replacing 9 or 10 rafters, re-roofing, replacing the lost ceiling and drywall, rewiring, repainting inside and out, replacing damaged gutters, and more. All this work was under the supervision of Heath. Of course, the insurer's initial estimate was insufficient, and Brad coordinated accurately and promptly with the insurer for the needed amount. He even found an arithmetic error on the part of the insurer. I was very nervous, initially, when driving to California, about how things would turn out. Well, they turned out well. H&S made the repairs run smoothly. We're happy. I can't say how much I appreciate their efforts. Brad and Heath are the right men for the job, and make Hays & Sons look good.

After a catastrophic water leak, Hays and Sons restored our kitchen to its original beauty. Their team worked seamlessly together to restore drywall and cabinets. They had to remove our countertop and plumbing in order install the rebuilt cabinets, and they did this without disturbing the backslash! Allen White, the carpenter repaired and installed the rebuilt cabinets without a scratch on the faces. He caulked the countertop, and it looked exactly like what we had before. A perfect job. Ather important component to this entire operation are that they were not only experts at their trades, but they were on time, cleaned up, and scheduled the bulk of the work while we were out of town. We were so grateful for this. Another company estimated that this job would take 4 to 6 months. It took them 6 weeks. Absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this amazing team of experts.

They came in as a second contractor after the first one was not doing satisfactory work. Hays and sons did exceptional work without unnecessarily expanding the scope of work. Our bamboo floors and trim work look beautiful. The remediation team had state of the art fans and humidifiers and their water detection equipment was also state of the art. They found creative solutions when needed. Justin and Jeff also came over on a Friday afternoon and carried 36 55 lbs boxes bamboo from our garage to the basement to acclimate in our home. The whole team were Hays and Sons hero’s to us! Highly recommend and I’ve told everyone about them!

When you've had a major disaster and need to use a company like Hayes and Sons, there's little chance that the project will just happen with no hickups. You're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars of work, there are chances for a ton of things to go wrong. What you need is a partner who will be responsive as issues arise, and will take responsibility to make things right as they go wrong. Josh Allman did exactly that. We did not have a great experience with some of the quality of work that the subcontractors performed on this job, but Josh did his part great and has resolved the concerns. We also had very little issue with the back and forth of quoting, estimating, and insurance payments. Those are the arenas that Hayes and Sons directly controls, and we are satisfied with that. The issues with some of the subcontractors prevents me from being able to leave a 5 star review, but I would recommend someone use H&S with the hopes that adjustments are made on the subs as needed.

Had an upstairs bathroom ********* insurance sent out ************ out of ***********. First the water mitigation team came to set up very, large dehumidifiers & commercial grade fans. ************** fashioned an air tube out of plastic sheeting to go from the downstairs to the upstairs bathroom. I was rather impressed by how thorough they were. The object was to get the bathroom dry so we wouldnt have to replace tile, Sheetrock, & flooring. If youve ever lived through a home renovation youll know what Im talking about! After a week of this set up we were clear for paint! Yall need to understand something, were in the Christmas season now and my house is decorated to the 9s!!! **** covered everything so as not to get paint on anything!!! When I found that one coat wasnt enough I called ***** to ask for **** to come back out. ***** was always my main contact at ********* remember him answering ***** question Do what makes her happy! So **** came out and gave the ceiling another coat. And Im very happy! Know when youre choosing a company to do this type of work, *****. & Sons is on time, they do a fine job, constant communication throughout the job, cleans up after themselves, and makes you happy!! I had a significant amount of water damage. Chino and his crew came within 24 hours of me filing my claim and did an OUTSTANDING and thorough job making sure everything was dry, there was no mold, and removing anything wet or damaged. Chino's communication was A1 and the guys always showed up on time. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to lead that crew! The estimator came next, I don't remember his name but he was also very helpful with telling me what next steps were. Super friendly guy! Then enter my project manager Josh Allman. This man is TOP TIER. His communication was IMPECCABLE. He walked me through which contractors were doing what, when, and made sure I was able to meet them during the walk through. Tony and Pinnacle Flooring came with (I kid you not) 30 choices of flooring. They were in and out, helpful, and gave me a timeline for materials. When it came time for install, Tony sent Chris and Nick , the BEST installers I could've ever asked for. They knocked it out of the park and were all around great people. I was actually really sad to see them go. They were really fun to be around. After the flooring was down, Miller Consulting came in to do the baseboard and final finishes. I can't say enough great things about the painter Francisco. He did a great job and was a super sweet man! There were some hiccups along the way, but in the end, Josh Allman MADE SURE that the work was done properly not only to my expectations, but to his. I'm obviously not a contractor, so having someone step up and advocate for me and the work being done has no price tag. It took a couple extra trips, but the work was completed timely and correctly. Josh, my project manager, really made this job as easy as it could be for a customer. I am so grateful for his attention to detail and help through this process. Give that man a raise. We’ve been working with Hays and Sons for 5+ months now, and we really lucked out with “Magic Man” as our project manager. Magic Man, as my 64 y/o mom fondly refers to Justin D., has been in and around our house so much these last several weeks that we’ve added him as a tenant with the USPS (jk). Absolutely nothing. Between Magic Man’s hands on approach and Sal’s “I’ve got it” attitude, our house has evolved from hot mess express to rivaling Better Homes and Gardens’ center spread. When our annual plumbing inspection found a rotted joist under our main toilet we were devastated. Our plumbing company referred us to Hays & Sons and they helped us file our first homeowners claim. Their detailed inspection and write up made the insurance company’s job easy to approve and the estimate was very reasonable. The carpet they were paid to replace was not close to the same quality as previously installed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The review below is being updated to reflect the changes. They replaced the carpet after coming out to inspect without hesitation. Ended up the Carpet they got from the factory was defective. Mark and his Company were great. I have worked with Restoration companies before and they ended up going over and beyond. We highly recommend Hays & Sons and would not hesitate to use them again. Had another Spring basement flood less than a month after they completed the job. The carpet backing is coming off the carpet. The seam was not done correctly. You were able to pull apart the carpet at the seam without cutting it. Per Service Pro and StateFarm Carpet less than a month old should not be deteriorating.

(2020-2022). I couldn't have asked for a better person to manage all of the needs, timelines, days of impatience, the good days, and everything else. He stayed in touch with me every step of the way and if there was anything I needed, I could reach out to him and know my questions would be answered as timely as possible. He was very professional during any moments of stress or when having to deliver or have the "good news/bad news" conversations. One thing I also want to add is that he never made any promises or any guarantees that he didn't or couldn't keep. It's a long and impatient process at times when you're just ready to be back home and he was very appropriate to not even once, give false information just to end a conversation, or get me or my other point of contact off his back, etc. That really meant a lot to me among many other positives surrounding this experience with Neil and with Hays and Sons. This review doesn't even include all the positive feelings I have about the finished remodel and all the work that went into it. So beautiful. After losing my house to a garage fire, Hays and Sons came to help me get my house processed to start rebuilding. First I met Ben, who was very friendly and reassuring during those first really hard days and then he handed me off to my project manager, Angie - who is fabulous! She was very patient with me was I worked to go through my items for the insurance company. I can't say I was too happy with the way I felt my possessions were treated by the demo crew ( I know that probably sounds strange, but I already felt so violated after the fire) it was just hard to walk in there any day let alone the days after they started ripping out things - my suggestion - be 100% done going in to your home before having them start. ( I think that would be advise for any company) Angie was in constant communication with me about how and when things were happening. She went out of her way to meet with me at a time and location that was convent for me a couple of times. Today I had my salvaged continence delivered by Bill and Chase, who were wonderful! They were on time, polite and friendly. It feels so good to have some of my stuff back. I won't be in my house for probably another 7-8 months, but having some of my items back from "limbo" feels nice. I haven't had the chance to go through those items, but the large salvaged items (washer and Drier) looked good.

Hays + Sons in NW Indiana just completed the restoration of my elderly mother's home that was damaged after a pipe burst under her slab foundation. They were responsive and effective in stopping the water leak, removing the damaged flooring, drying the place out, tearing up the slab to get to the broken pipe, repairing the broken pipe, replacing the flooring, painting, and ultimately putting the place back together so well that it looks even better than before the pipe broke. A gentleman named Mio started the process, and a gentleman named Mick managed the restoration process - and both of them assured and helped my mother with every detail - even bringing her flooring samples to choose from so she didn't have to drag herself from store to store to find the floor she likes. At 86 years old, I dreaded the disruption and complexity that my mother would have to endure to have her flooded home restored. My fears never materialized though - as this team treated my mother (and her home) as they probably treat their own mothers - with the utmost care, patience, and respect. When my mother moved back into her home after the two weeks of restoration work, she was delighted to have the place put back together exactly as it was meant to be - sparkling clean and ready to live in again. Having your home flood and living through a restoration is never something you want to experience, but this team at Hays + Sons made the process easy and stress free for my mother - and for me. I can honestly say that you can trust this team to take care of your mother and successfully complete her home restoration.

During a recent storm a huge tree fell through the roof and into our home. Within only 2 hours of calling Hays and Sons they arrived at our house which was extraordinary considering the storm damage and traffic around the city. My house surffered massive water damage and my plumber recommended Hays and Sons. I was out of state and could not return until after back surgery. From the water and mold cleanup to the final restoration of my house Hays and Sons personnel have been amazingly professional, often going out of their way to be helpful. Travis Evans, for example, led the initial tear down and mold cleanup but also on the final day came to clean the construction soil on my carpets, filling in for a crew on vacation. Ben Lehman seemed to really care about the storage of all my stuff and even called in Travis to help make a coffee table right. I cannot say enough good things about Mark Manzo who led me though the reconstruction, guiding me in the mysteries of dealing with the insurance company, helping me make choices, advising me about where to buy appliances and other things including a furnace (saving me a lot of money). He made sure that everything is up to code as well as up to his standards. In a time when workers are scarce, he managed to move my project forward to completion. He answered my many texts, emails, and phone calls promptly, helpfully, and always politely, which made this very difficult process manageable and successful. Hays and Sons was recommended to fix a few lost shingles. Overall we had a great experience. They were timely in scheduling the appointments and completing the service. My primary complaint would be the minimum service charge. It is stated as one price on the release form but quoted $100 more by estimators. In the end, $450 dollars is a bit salty for 1hour of work to replace 5 shingles.

We had a water leak in our kitchen last year two days after we had just put down new laminate flooring. We called Hays & Sons and they were there in less than an hour. They were very efficient and took care of all of the cleanup and setup of the equipment. Reputable company, after using them back in the 80's for a residential fire they were exceptionable and restored my smoke damaged property as well as communicating to my insurance carrier giving me peace of mind. When you've had a major disaster and need to use a company like Hayes and Sons, there's little chance that the project will just happen with no hickups. You're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars of work, there are chances for a ton of things to go wrong. What you need is a partner who will be responsive as issues arise, and will take responsibility to make things right as they go wrong. Josh Allman did exactly that. We did not have a great experience with some of the quality of work that the subcontractors performed on this job, but Josh did his part great and has resolved the concerns. We also had very little issue with the back and forth of quoting, estimating, and insurance payments. Those are the arenas that Hayes and Sons directly controls, and we are satisfied with that. The issues with some of the subcontractors prevents me from being able to leave a 5 star review, but I would recommend someone use H&S with the hopes that adjustments are made on the subs as needed.
